My Agility Dog

I don't post much, but I was so proud of my dog this weekend I wanted to share this. http://brian.tuckernt.net/ckcbastian.html This was my 1st AKC agility trial. We took 2, 1st place runs in the jumpers with weaves course

I took our Chesapeake through 2 levels of agility and he loved it. Chesapeakes aren't known for their speed though, unless there's water involved (i.e. he would rather WALK through the weave poles but he did do it perfectly  - and he always cleared the jumps but only by less than an inch). The border collies always blew him away with their speed, but he sure loved going to "Super Dogs" every Wednesday night. Looks like your rottie is loving it too - ears up, really paying attention to your signals.
Congratulations and I hope you keep going on with this - it's big fun! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the nice comments!
We've had Bastian for 2 years and since he was 16 weeks we've been taking him to an agility/obedience class. We didn't clicker train for anything. We treat trained for agility to start, but not obedience. Now for agility we either have a special ball that he only gets for agility, and every once in a while he gets string cheese.
Training a cat..... that sounds like an impossibe task. I trained mine to do whatever it wants

My cats learned a new trick....so did some of my dogs......to freak out dureing a thunderstorm. Seems storms are so much worse then they are used to these days. Even scares me so I want to run in circles and hide under something ! Unfortunetly I don't fit under the couch.

All I've managed to teach my Boarder Collie is to follow me around like a shadow, beg for food, curl up on the couch with me, and fight me for most of my half of the bed.
Do they have a best loveable nuisance category?

And this one is my wife's future agility dog Tessa. She's 6 months old.

Nice looking dogs !! I have grown to dislike rotty's but yours have a very freindly compasionate spark in there eye !!!! I like the looks of your dogs !!!! The ones I see are MEAN.....can not trust them. An 'X' friend had 4 and shot every one of them one by one by the time there son was 4......(yeah he needs the same I ageree....jus got anuther one and shot it too cuz it bit is son.....it was 6 months old......I am SURE!!) I warned them they can not have mean rotty's and chain'd to boot that are middle aged then let there baby around them....not as mean as these dogs were at least. Plus it is hard to teach dogs like that to be patient with a child....some were rated as guard or aggressive when they got them....some had hurt people before. They gave me the willies......a death stare is all I ever saw. We had a rotty ourselves that was not social and stupid us.....she wasn't even social as a pup. She was the last pup left and we took her. She went after me a few times.......and she was MY dog ? I have a dog kennel and only hang onto the NICE ones. Um.....I let the tempermental ones go to good homes appropeiate for the dog.....I don't shoot them. Canine'r Pam

I think a lot of people don't understand that these dogs need a purpose other than laying around, they are working dogs and their goal is to please you. My dogs are sooooo happy when they are working. Bastian also does herding, but that's getting expensive.
It's unfortunate that your "X" friend had to shoot his dogs.  I would never adopt any dog that had aggression issues due to having a family. If I was single that would be a different story depending on the dog, but you have to be very careful because you don't know what kind of deep seeded issues the dogs have.
We keep our dogs inside and kenneled when we are gone, however Bastian is trustworthy enough to leave out, but our house is on the market and I figured he might be a little intimidating  The agent of the last showing said the dog's were great when they came in. (Not barking or growling in the kennels, but wiggleing and happy to see someone.)
We were very carefull when we got our dogs. We did a lot of research on the breeders, and the breeder we got Bastian from was able to introduce us to 8 dogs in the line that were placed all over the state. And I liked the fact that she was not a big breeder. She'd had 2 litters in 6 years, and has become a very close friend to us.
We have known several people that don't like rotties or big dogs for that matter and have met Bastion and ended up playing with him. He really does make me very proud.
