Godspeed to a truly marvelous man... http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=1015438 *Edited to add: Peter Jennings was the sole anchor of World News Tonight from the time I was 2 years old. To me, he has always been the core of prime time news. His absence will be felt by everyone, but I do think even especially by those of us who never really knew anyone else who did report the news in such a way. Incredible person...

I watched him day and night during the Gulf War. He would come to the camera looking tired and disheveled sometimes, believe it or not, reporting long hours all the time. He did a great job.

Yes I remember him 'AS' the world news guy too......just like Captin Kangaroo and Mr. Jingaling and Barnaby.....they were ICONS we grew up on. They were news and learning and they were entertainment as we grew up. Sadly missed tv guys Pam

Sad to learn this. He was a genuinely nice guy. You could put than on his headstone. Why is it always the good ones that die young? Charlie

You know...I keep thinking on this. He truly was an inspiration. I honestly think I learned to question everything just from listening to his broadcasts. He gave us the vision to see past the front of issues in the news and to look deeper for other aspects, other views, etc.

| And he did it while still remaining humble. He was not a back biting, rough, extreme type at all, but an honest forthright journalist. He never let his feelings or opinions get in the way of his reporting. I don't think we'll ever see one like him ever again. I'm going to miss him...

What amazed me more than anything, was that this was a man who had the hearts, heads and ears of much of the nation, yet he never graduated from high school or attended college! He will be deeply missed by many. Kris

I have lost 3 important men in my life.... Of course My Dad... The Pope... and now Peter Jennings the man that gave me the news every night since I can remember back. He was the fairest commentator... and so easy on the eyes.. I loved him... he will be missed.... God speed his pure sweet soul home... Ree
