The family tree

When I was a child I marvelled at your stature and strength. As I grew I explored and played on the ground near your roots, respecting your presence. Later I began to climb in your branches, there was comfort there. As I climbed higher and learned which branches were strong enough to support me, you gave me a new place to view the world from. You changed with the seasons, and had a beauty that was unique to each one. There was a period of time were I became indifferant and had more important things to do than to climb and sit in your branches with the wind slowly swaying me back and forth. That didn't matter to you, you were still there when I needed you. As I grew older and realized what was important in life, I would sit in the shade you provided from the sweltering sun and hold quiet, deep counsel with you. And I began to notice the effects that time was having on you. I always thought you would stay strong and straight, towering over everything else in the world, providing life, comfort and joy. But now time has ravaged your body, but your soul and heart are still strong and pure. Soon the tree will fall........ and all I will be left with are the memories.... plentiful as they may be, they just are not enough. I sit in awe and wonder at all you have given out of love, never once asking anything in return, and am humbled by your heart and spirit. I know you will find peace where you are going, you were a saint and angel here on earth and will be one of the brightest in heaven, of that there is no doubt. There are many great people in this world who can never, through all of their accomplishments, touch a heart the way you have mine. I love you Grandma and you will live on forever in my heart. Hopefully I can still make you proud someday.

Brother, You were blessed to have had her in your life. That is very apparent. I'm sure she knows how you feel and I trust you will not leave anything left unsaid. She, too was a very lucky woman to have had you for a grandson. All of us here know that. If you ever need anything...please let me know. Pegg

Guess we're even now, you done made 'darlin cry. Grandmothers are a special gift ane even though we may not get to have them as long as we would like, we still have those wonderful memories that nothing can ever take a way. Take those memories, wrap yourself up in their warmth like a blanket on a cold winter night. I'm so sorry. carolyn

Trees (Joyce Hilmer) I think that I shall never see, A poem lovely as a tree. A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed, Against the earth's sweet-flowing breast, A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray. A tree that may in summer wear, A nest of robins in her hair. Upon whose bosom snow has lain, Who intimately lives with rain, Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree.

Thomas when my Granma died I was very privileged to be the last one she spoke to. She said something to me that I will never forget: "It's my time now but remember I'll not be gone. I will always be with you because I love you." I knew then that love is not bound by time or space. Love is real life.
