Put ice on it for 15 minutes and then apply a heating pad for 15 minutes. do this every hour.....back pain sucks, but this is what helps with the five buldging discs in my lower back. good luck, Bro

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

20 minutes ice, 40 minutes warm. Used to work for me when I still had disks.

{{{{{{{Svenn}}}}}}}}}} My grandma has really bad spinal stenosis and has been having problems getting up lately, too - lots of falls. The treatment comes from doing things like physical therapy to epidural nerve blocks (which she is trying right now) to surgery, which she is trying to avoid at all costs. I like the ice/heat combos that Jonny and Kirk said above. I used to use a similar thing on my mid-back and shoulders when really heavy into the piano. I also went to a chiropractor and massage therapist several times, but I know that kind of thing can be a little controversial! IMHO, it depends on who you go to. My massage therapist was from Australia, and she was awesome! Thinking of you and sending lots of vibes and PF wishes! Lizzie

OUCH. It's a big club. Too often I have to crawl out of bed. My lumbar likes to remind me that it's there. You probably zigged when you should have zagged but try sitting on the floor with your back flat and grab your knees individually and pull them toward your chest. That's what my nurse relatives do. Or...guzzle lots of your cheap Scotch and Cognac Charlie

Sorry your hurting bro. Sending some vibes and energies. Wish I could more, but I would do what the folks here have suggested with the hot and cold. Peace, Carl

You mite have some nerve compression or whatever they call it (the more I read up about back stuff the more I forget)......it may come and go in fazes. Depends on what is causeing it tho but that is sometimes the case where it comes and goes esp if you did alot the day or so before or sumthing DIFFERENT straining your back. Mine seems to take a few days to SET IN to worsen but then I am stuck now with chronic pain now days. Real problem in the mornings also. Excercise can sometimes loosen you up and keep your back strong and support the spine better. Some over the counter pain meds can work for mild cases of pain or arthritis. Tiny spaggehti nerves run out the sides of your spine that feed different areas for sensation and they can get pinched off or rubbed wrong and swell for a few days if irritated or inflamed. Disc's can cause problems also.....mite want to get it checked out and know exactly what to do or not do. Good luck to ya and hope it is letting up some by now ! Yacky backy Pam

| Well, if you can't blame the CAUSE on wild kinky sex, then maybe wild kinky sex could be the CURE!! Chuck PS: Here in the states there is an over-the-counter medication called Alleve. That is what I use when my back acts up.
