Holy Crap We got a high profile criminal patient

For those of you who google then news just two weeks ago a sixteen year old girl went missing in Hemmingford Quebec just 40 minutes from Montreal. Her body was found the other day. She was horribly beaten to death. If she was sexually assaulted it is not out yet. They arrested a young man and get this charged his parents with second degree murder (acessories). What part they played in this God knows. The Waltons, they are not. Anyhoo the father had chest pains and is in CCU right across the hall from me with two guards at all times. They all seem so normal. Holy shit......I hope someone "accidentally" pulls his O2 or some such shit. The whole thing is making me sick.

Whoa.. Disturbing... The parents may not have had ANY part in it, and may be listed as accessories to the crime if they had helped hide their son.

you know, Ricky, did you ever stop to think that maybe the father is having chest pains BECAUSE of the grief his son's actions have caused him? I know I'd sure be stressed if a kid of mine was implicated in something like this. I guess I just have a different reaction to this than you do. Frank's right, the parents could be accessories if they allowed their son to hide out in their house. What would YOU do if your kid came home, said nothing to you about his "activites" the night before and then went to sleep. Say you heard it on the news that your boy was suspected. What would you do? I'm afraid I might be painted as an accessory, too, in a case like this. Don't get me wrong, it's a tragic case and I feel (and pray) for all parties involved.

Margi For sure this guy's problems are brought on by the stress. He has a heart history. It has not come out yet just exactly what part the parents played in this. God if my kid turned out to be a murderer of an innoncent girl like this I am afraid I would not stand by him. I would wonder whose kid is this and that this is a stranger. I am hoping it is benign as just hiding their kid and not some really disturbing shit ala Bernardo/Homulka. We all will finding out soon enough.

Wow, this has been big news here, it all happened about 50 miles from me. The local news says that the parents helped their son dispose of evidence connected to the case, check it out in the Plattsburgh (NY) Press: http://www.pressrepublican.com/Archive/2005/07_2005/072720051.htm Scary stuff here close to the border.......

Sick cold world sumtimes. A friend of mine in Arizona was notified they found his 19 year old daughter dead few days ago......some young people gave her a ride and the young girl of 16 started to stab her and then her boyfriend started to stab her then shot her in the head. They both confessed but now the poor family has to go thru TWO trails. Eye for an eye trail Pam

Well Margi If the parents indeed helped dispose of the evidence then I hope they fry along with their darling son. Can you imagine the agony of the mother wondering where her daughter is and these bitches knew all along the girl is dead and they help tokeep it a secret. No honey I would not do that for my son who I love to death. If he could do something like this, he is a stranger to me.

MCF Welcome aboard. So you live in the Plattsburgh area. I go often. I have a gf in Peru. I have tried to get together with some clusterheads here in the Montreal area. I am originally from Georgia. I have lived up here for 15 years and it is unfriendly. I have yet to meet another clusterhead. I have been unsuccessful in getting a meeting with locals to come to pass.

| Agreed. But ... sorry, I still find the desire to "pull the O2" (on someone who hasn't been proven guilty yet), absolutely terrifying. I'm glad I'm not a patient in that hospital, that's all. This is now a matter for the police and, subsequently, a judge and jury. Certainly not hospital staff who are feeding on media reports that may or may not be true. I'm glad there are guards posted outside the father's room. Yes, it's horribly wrong if the parents helped this guy cover it up. And yes, they should be punished for doing that. I would hope that I, in the same situation, would be able to make the right choice and turn my child in to the authorities. But, my point is, that we don't know what the circumstances were that led to the parents being charged as accessories and, until such time as we do, it's certainly no one's place to judge them or threaten to pull the plug on the dad. BTW, Ricky, I fully believe that Bernardo and Homulka will end up in the Lake of Fire. But I sure pray that their parents won't. Of course I feel gut-wrenching sympathy for the parents of the murdered girls in both of these cases. But I also feel it for the parents of the criminals, as well.

| You're right Margi. I find it terrifying, too. Earlier on in this thread, Sean asked what's wrong with society. I've been thinking about that a lot since. I think I have one answer. Our society embraces violence by "qualifying" it. A 16 yo girl get into a car with someone who rapes and/or murders her....she's a victim, it's an outrage. A 19 yo crack addicted hooker does the same...she's a hooker, what did she expect? 2 hockey Dads duke it out in the lobby of the ice rink and one dies... what's wrong with them? That's crazy. 2 thugs in hockey uniforms duke it out on the ice...it's entertainment, it's part of the game. We drop bombs on a country we've declared war on, and kill civilians...that's collateral damage Someone declares war on us and kills civilians...that's an outrage, it's terrorism. A husband wants to pull a feeding tube from his brain dead wife...that's murder, it's unforgivable. Someone wants to accidentally pull a plug on an alleged criminal... he deserves it, he's guilty. It seems to me that until EVERY SINGLE PERSON takes a good long look into their souls and realizes that EVERY OTHER PERSON deserves to be respected solely because they are alive, we are doomed. I believe that God put us here to get past all the differences and remember who "we really are". Society should have rules and laws. Those who choose not to follow them should have a consequence. The standards should apply to everyone, though, in all situations. But when are we going to wake up and see the "real" big picture here?

| I have to disagree with this Ricky, however it is your opinion. The folks in Montreal are more than friendly and supportive and I am proud to call them my friends, part of my family. Circumstances have intruded on many of their ability to meet and I would say they are sorry for the lack of opportunities they have had to meet and greet, I cannot speak for them but I will say again, I am proud to call them my friends... Just my opinion...

I think all our Quebec family at ch.ca ROCK! Canadians, as a whole, we're a friendly bunch. Just don't piss us off. LOL

Well, I'll tell you living just an hour south of Montreal that it can be an awful unfriendly place, especially if you don't speak french, which I don't. Go to Ontario/Ottawa and everything is completely different, some of the friendliest people you would find anywhere in the world, same thing with the eastern provinces. I attribute 99% of it to being a large metropolitan area, where life is different like it is in any big city.

| OK I am game. ROTFLMAO Seriously I stand by my experiences here in Canada. And to really get shit started because I am a shit disturber of the highest order (must be the American in me and Souther yahoo to boot) did y'all know there is no racism in Canada. I am from the South and we NEVER were called the N word till we moved here-absolutely true. My kids passed out some good ol fashioned Georgia ass whuppings and that shit stopped. And anti Semitism That is a big tradition here in Quebec. They even honored a rabid Nazi sympathizer and supporter with a subway station after his name LIonel Groulx. Gotta love it

I'm sorry, Ricky. I know how it feels. I lived in Japan for ten years, and was ostracized, gawked at, regarded with abject fear, made the butt of crass and racial jokes, all for being a "gaijin." (Non-Japanese, especially as a Caucasian male) It hurts, and it's frustrating, and no matter how thick you think your skin is, when you live in a country that's not your own, you become vulnerable. Again, I'm sorry you are going through this... Hang in there.
