...and no, I'm not talking about THAT kind of thing. A couple of shots from my side trip to Texas hill country.. First, a couple of Texas LongHorns relaxing in the midday sun.... An old pump jack lays idle and rusting...... Cactus anyone?

Less than 2 hours drive west from the motel, the ghost town of Thurber, TX. In the early 1900's over ten thousand people lived and worked here. Thurber was once home to a large coal mine and produced bricks by the tens of thousands. The discovery of oil in Ranger,TX 30 miles to the west doomed the coal industry......the railroads switched to oil and the demand for coal disappeared.....and so did the town.
