I have been quiet this week in mental preparation for my running of the Grandfather Mountain Marathon in Boone, NC tomorrow morning. A couple of months ago I was to run in a different marathon and then came into cycle 6 weeks prior to the run and had to withdraw due to losing training time. Training in the heat in NC has been difficult but thanks to the confidence drawn from my experience with Kudzu and knowledge drawn here I chose to pick another one right away to train for.
In my last marathon (last September) I carried thoughts of my recently deceased Uncle and his fight with Leukemia with me. And each time I thought about quitting I thought about how he fought valiantly with the disease and kept his sense of humor to the end.
This marathon, I'll be thinking about many of you who I've only become familiar with on these boards, but all too familiar with what you go through, and some I can't even imagine what you go through. But you show up here and get through it every day. So from 7-11 am tomorrow send me some vibes. I'll be thinking of you and shooting vibes out from Grandfather Mountain NC.

Yet another connection! Not only was your grandfathers pub in London my watering hole when I lived there but now you're running up Grandfather mountain in Boone and I have a really good friend from Boone (who now lives in Kentucky!!) I hope reading that really long sentence was a good breathing exersize for you! LOL

No need Charlie. I hooked up one of those old overhead tank systems. I just pull the chain.
Next week I'm going to motorize the old Laz-Y-Boy in case I have to answer the door for the pizza delivery.

'preciate the vibes y'all. had a great run on Saturday. Came in stronger than I expected by about 15 minutes and broke just under 4 hours (3:59:59). (I saw the timing clock from about 50 yards out and thought there is no way I 'm not going to get under 4 hours if I'm this close.) A beautiful day in the Carolina mountains.
For all you scottish people in the southeast U.S., the Highland Games in Linville each summer is pretty cool place. all the clans get together (scottish clans, that is). We got to walk around it some after the run and had a lot of fun.
