yes indeed---the anti-capitalistic know-it-all who were screaming in ecstasy over the sounds of music are now rattling their omniscient sabres in the direction of the G8 summit.
More aid to Africa you American cheapskates! End poverty! Forgive Africa it's debts! Ahhh, youth.
Since it won't be reported anywhere else I'll take it upon myself to inform the gentle reader that the US gives 15 times (this is no typo) FIFTEEN times the amount of money to Africa than does the UK. Anyone rallying Tony Blair to pony up? How bout the far Easterners? Where's our emerging giant China now?
And Africa, for it's part, being ever opportunistic has taken this occasion to 'humbly request' the billions of dollars it owes and has squandered to just vanish into thin air. I guess to do otherwise would be racist, eh Jesse Jackson? Sheila Jackson Lee?
And now, for the politically incorrect diatribe of the day:
Here's something else that these brilliant rock stars you won't hear about. I'm talking about the birth rate in Africa. In Africa, as in America and in so many other parts of the world, the people who can least afford to raise children are the people with the highest pregnancy rates. It is considered to be gravely politically incorrect in America to ever suggest that a woman who cannot afford to raise a child should do something to prevent pregnancy. It seems you can't address this situation in Africa either. The solution for African women having children they can't afford to raise is to go to the United States and confiscate the money needed to raise them.
The problems faced by Africa are largely cultural. Though our illustrious rock stars wouldn't touch this, the dominant African culture is one of irresponsible reproduction, tribal warfare, submission to dictatorial despots, anti-capitalistic governments and unprotected sex leading to rampant disease. Live 8 isn't going to change this, and either is confiscating more American wealth to be poured into this mess.

I guess it doesn't help much Ueli. But in ranting on issues it's dissenters that make for good hay. Plus, it seems uncanny but I almost always find myself in the minority when it comes to economic or social issues and I use several venues with which to let off steam so I don't explode---particularly in regard to hypocrisy, which as you know is everywhere.
Is there a gov't subsidy for being in the minority with regard to social issues?

Its not that you are in the minority, its just that others get tired of beating their head against the wall argueing with someone inwhitch facts mean little or nothing. Its just easier just to read their petty one liners, laugh at their lack of thought and originality, and move on to the next thread.
