A Cluster At 109 Degrees...... OUCH!!!!!!!

It has been very hot the last couple of weeks and since my apartment is in a thick brick building on the 2nd floor, the temp has been amplified and without power, only have daylight hours I can work in there. I knew I was in for it yesterday when I looked at the outside temp and it was 98 degrees. I got to my apartment and the barometer in there was up to 109 degrees. The windows don't open very far and the last couple of days I have just been putting on my swimming trunks knowing I will be drenched in sweat within minutes.
I worked for about an hour or more and started going into an attack. I gave myself a shot of Trex and just like the night before, the beast broke through up to a level 9/10 for about a half hour. It's bad enough that when I give myself a shot of Trex I get hot, but with the added temps - OMFG! Talk about brutal.

The CH's have been bad lately and what is scaring me is the Trex seems to be losing it effectiveness. It will be at least another week before I can get ahold of some LSA to try, so until then I am just coping the best I can. I have gotten sick just about every day I have worked in my apartment the past week or more, but yesterday was really bad. I couldn't even eat anything all evening I felt so nauseous. I told Sunny last night I probably wouldn't get any sleep because I am in so much pain throughout my entire body that it will keep me awake, and was right - lol. I'm guessing it is the Fibro doing it, but I feel as though I jumped off a building and landed on concrete. Just walking or moving my arms or anything fricken HURTS! I was lying on the beanbag chair just feeling my muscles pulsate with pain and told Sunny I hate to complain (something I have tried to avoid doing around anyone) and she corrected me and said that "It is only complaining if it is something you have control over. When it is something you cannot control, such as being in pain, it is just venting."  She has also seen me in a full blown attack a few times since I have been here and I know it has messed with her.
I have been pushing myself pretty hard this week, and have 2 days to finish moving out and cleaning - and still have a ton of stuff to do so I am kind of in panic mode to get it over and done with. The only problem is, I am doing good just to get my body to physically move. I'm gritting my teeth and basically keep kicking myself in the ass to keep functioning. I just have to make it two more days.
In the last couple of weeks I have sweated so much, I've probably lost about 20 lbs (was down 9 lbs at last Dr's visit) and I'm sure at least 4 lbs of that was my mind. But yeah - this has sucked to say the least. I am just the weather wench is right and it only gets into the 80's today. Then my apt will at least get down to 90's. That would be nice.

Peace,
Carl D

Carl,

You've found the time type a lovely long letter into your computer.  Now you've got to find the same amount of time to sit down and take a few deep breaths and drink a bloody lot of water, or you're gunna burn out, mate.  Then where are you?

No-one's doubting the importance of what you're doing nor the difficulty involved nor the time-frame,  but I reckon you're heading for a heat attack.  Bloody near as bad as a heart attack.

Back off, mate, just for a few moments.

Drink the water, drink the water, drink the water!

Brian is right!!!  Dehydration causes muscle aches and they are severe.  When it gets real bad it turns into cramps - all the big muscles spasm and the pain is unbelievable.  Think CH in all the big muscles!

Drink lots of water before you head into the heat and twice as much as you think you should while actively sweating.  Cold water is better than warm, but warm is better than none.

I've been through severe dehydration and you don't want to have to do that!!

I'll jump all over the hydration concept. It's right on target. As a marathon runner it is ALL about hydration, because your thinking actually starts to degrade when you are overheated and dehydrated. It is one of the primary reasons for people not finishing marathons is that the voices that start to pick at you get amplified when your system is shutting down.

Just keep in mind that to much water will drop your sodium level to the point that it will kill you!

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Thanks for the concern, but have been purdy smart about the heat... well, since I passed out two weeks ago in the heat. Been getting sick alot, and usually mrk that as the point that "it's time to get the hell out of here."
However, I have been driving myself down for the last week (when I panic, I go into hyper-mode and there is no stopping me then.) Yesterday Maggie took one look at me and said "Oh no! Not today! You're taking a break whether you like it or not. Your stuff will still be there tomorrow." As bad as my whole body hurts still, I figured I'd better do as she says. So, I will be a day late in my exodus, and just had someone else bail on me, but  am not gonna fret it.
I finally got five full hours of sleep this morning, so I am good for another week.

Peace & LYG,
