Runaway Brain, errr, Bride- an 'I told ya so'

"Runaway Bride" Jennifer Wilbanks is close to a six-figure book deal with Regan Books, the New York Daily News' Lloyd Grove writes. Wilbanks, 32, and her fiancé, John Mason, also are working on a movie-of-the-week deal and a network television interview - both likely with NBC and the latter possibly with Katie Couric. These 2 losers had it planned from the start despite the eye rolling and eyebrow crinching looks I received when first posited. Sadly, this movie deal will be watched in the hundreds of thousands and is typical of the f*ked up priorities of the people in our falling Republic.

Unrelated, I know, but as a "big YES" for the American public when it comes to media and jerks capitalizing on crap... Jason Blair was the writer for the New York Times who fabricated parts of stories using photos and other news sources. He broke a huge story on the sniper case in Virginia, reported on the family of POW Jessica Lynch and other high profile stories. Someone one noticed that parts of a story he submitted from southern Texas about the mother of a slain American soldier were remarkably similar to a story by another reporter written several days before his. Originally the story was written by Macarena Hernandez, a former intern of Blair's at the the Times, now with the San Antonio Express-News who published the story. The Express-News editor alerted the Times. Blair was guilty of more than just sloppy reporting. An investigation revealed a "pathological pattern of misrepresentation, fabricating and deceiving", said Times editor Howell Raines. This rocked the credibility of the New York Times, a real black eye and low point in it's 152 year history. Nearly half of all Blair's stories he wrote for national reporting assignments had problems as well as over a hundred for the Times. Jayson Blair then wrote about his exploits with the Times and the eager publisher ordered a first printing of 250,000 copies of his book, "Burning Down My Master's House". Within the critical first ten days after being made available, 1400 copies were sold. Good to see no one was buying what he had to say. Keep us dumb and worried. Damn it, it's hard enough to keep our eyes on the ball but the corporations that own just about all big television media know that this shit sells pills and exercise machines. Scott Peterson, Robert Blake, Russell Crowe, a gay wedding, and even a lost child in Iowa, are not national news. I'm sorry but that's the case. Charlie

LMAO...they should be reserved for such shows as "Access Hollywood", "Extra" and the like. I enjoy watching those shows - generally out of boredom and just for a laugh.

These days we have this weekday broadcast called "Entertainment News"... Never watched it, but I've heard that all those sort of 'news' are in there.
