Off tomorrow early for a vacation. Maui to be exact. Any recomendations for things to do? Between snorkeling and eating roasted pig on a spit, I will try to check in. You gotta love it when you have lived away from home for so long that your parents will do almost anything to see you! I'm horrid, I know. Casey

Thanks everybody. I will take lots of pictures, but I don't think that any will be quite as good as Vig's. Casey

Carey-- Do the bike ride down Mount Haleakala--it's fabulous. There'll be a bus that picks you up early in the morn and drives you to the top. You're then given a mountain bike and essentially coast down the mountain as the sun rises over Maui. Edit to Add: The helicopter ride around the island, though expensive, was stunning.

oh Casey I'm so jealous!! I've been to Maui three times now and my grandparents were original members of the Lahaina Restoration Society. Walk along Front Street in Lahaina and just enjoy all the shops there. The Brig Cartheginian is moored there now and you can board it and have a look. I have a painting of that ship hanging in my living room that I watched my grandfather paint when I was a little girl. There's a small restaurant on Front Street - I think it's called Koko's, I can't remember now - but it's great there. You can eat out on the lanai and watch the sunsets. Watch fast there, though, the sun sets around 6 p.m. and it only takes a few minutes. Go up to Napili, Kanaapali and then down to Kehei and Wailea. The beaches down at Wailea are pretty awesome, wild surf down there! Wear shoes in the water there though - the coral will cut your feet. Oh, man, take me with you!!!!! Enjoy! And don't forget to say "mahalo" (thank you) edited to add: I just read Nots post and yes, sunrise at Haleakala is spectacular. There's also a really good flea market on Saturdays up near the airport.

Casey...Hmmm..let's see.. be a tourist...snorkel Molokini....the fish are amazing...then spend yuor day either in the durf, on the beach or by the pool...an ealy dinner at the barefoot bar brings you wonderful local entertainment, sand in your feet and sunset.along with a great dinner....personally, Lahaina is just a place to buy souvenirs..unless you go to Bubba Gump's.I'm soo simple, that place always cracks me up! I dont think you can HAVE a bad time on Maui....whether it's nature you seek or the high life.it's ALL there.have a marvelous time.... Aloohha!!!
