When It Rains....

Just getting my Hemicrania Continua under control with Indomethacin when I get a call from mt 84 year old Father saying he's sick. He'd been to the ER for stomach discomfort the day before but they couldn't find anything. He lives 60 miles away so I roar down there and find him in a 'state' that I'd never seen. He's all bent over, lots of pain, drooling, you get the picture - panic time. Called his doc, who actually answered his own phone<Miracle> and 40 minutes later he was admitted to the hospital. They took his gall bladder out last night and he's doing quite well for a man of his age. My point to this long-winded story is that I didn't even get a twinge of a headache during this stressful 12 hour period. Stress has always made my headaches worse and more frequent. Many body parts crossed that the Indo has the headaches beat. Without headaches, I can manage my Dad's needs. Thanks for reading. Mike

Mike, adrenaline surges (or high stress situations) are usually good abortives for cluster. I'm not sure how it relates to Hemicrania Continua though (I'm surprised I can even spell it actually! ) There have been many stories here of folks finding instant abort if something suddenly happens in front of them that requires their immediate attention/assistance (like the story of the supporter tripping over something and badly hurting herself while bringing the sufferer a glass of water). Like Bob's tagline says: stay stressed, never relax. It's relaxation that is the biggest trigger for cluster. Sorry to hear about your dad, but glad to see he's ok.

He's a pretty tough old guy. Pearl Harbor survivor and lots more besides. The chore will be keeping him out of the garden when he gets home!!

Sorry your dad had to go through that but I believe my grandmother was 77 when she had hers removed. She lived to 84. I was 37 when they took mine and look at what sweet old bastard I became. Charlie

Sorry to hear about your Dad, Mike. I hope he recovers quickly and that the Indomethacin continues to do it's job for you. Me, I'm like a lot of others around here. Stress usually keeps the beast at bay. As soon as the situation calms down and I start to relax - BAM!!! Glad your head behaved for you.

Just dragged the old boy home from the hospital today. I bumped into the surgeon in the hall and he told me that the old boy was grumpy enough to go home. He's much happier in his own house, claims the rocker fits his ass better. His Gall bladder was gangrenous(sp?) and had to come out when it did. Thanks to all for the good wishes!! Mike

I carried my Dad in the house when they let him out bro, they took his kidney. If he has a catheder dont let him walk away from the chair without the bag......the pain in my old mans eyes was cringing when he did that. Big upps to your Pops, man!!!
