Tomorrow for nursing school (5/9)

Tomorrow (well, today at this point!) is my last final for nursing school. It is my final for critical care, and I haven't been doing very well in that class, so I studied like crazy this weekend and hopefully the final will go well! My roommate reminded me tonight that it's only a 1.5 credit class, so it won't affect the overall GPA too much. I got a 71% on the midterm, an 80 on one quiz, a 60 on another quiz, and then the two standardized tests we took as indicators for success on our boards went great - one was a 93% and the other was a 104%...unfortunately those great grades only add up to 10% of the total grade!! I've studied a lot - just now need to be able to fall asleep (I'm being an insomniac as usual!), and then think clearly during the exam and not worry. From the pictures I posted earlier this week from my brother's graduation, there are a couple pics (maybe just on my photo website) where I was opening a gift my aunt and uncle gave me for my own graduation. My aunt had just finished a calligraphy class, and her final project was a calligraphy accordion book which she made for me. It has the sand, the sea, the moon, a sailboat, and the wind depicted on it (at night...)...and the calligraphy quote is the following: "To reach the port of heaven, we must sail~~~sometimes with the wind, sometimes against it. But we must sail and not drift nor lie at anchor."~Oliver Wendell Holmes My aunt thought that was very appropriate given the nature of how I've gone through my education and continued to fight battles - winning some and losing some along the way - but never stopping. It was one of the most thoughtful gifts I've ever received! So that quote will be on my mind as a relaxer before my exam tomorrow! After that, I have 4, 12-hour days to make up in the neonatal unit, and my honors project is due May 23 - but otherwise I'm finished! Scheduling and taking the licensing boards comes later...so no worries right now! Sorry for the length - can't sleep, so I figured I'd post that I've just about finished college - again! Thanks for all the support along the way. Hugz, Carrie/Lizzie2

Thanks all! I think the exam went well - I had certainly studied enough for it! I wish I had had the ability to study that much for that class all semester, or I would have wound up with a better final grade, but...other things kept getting in the way! I never was able to get to sleep last night, so I'm pretty tired right now! Finally at 5:15am, I got frustrated with not sleeping, so I got up and took a shower. I ran over to McDonald's at about 6:30am to grab a breakfast sandwich and came back and studied. Of course I feel like right now I could sleep for a good 7 hours or so, but now is the fun part! I have to go run a few errands (nothing annoying - fun stuff), and then at noon-ish, my nursing class is meeting at the Independence Brewery Pub to celebrate being done! Yay Not sure how long I'll stay at that since I'm literally falling asleep on my feet, but it'll be nice to have the chance to say goodbye to everyone! I'm glad that exam is over. Carrie

LOL fortunately most alcohol does not trigger me. I can't drink red wine or beer for any of my headache types, but I can have mixed drinks, etc. I probably won't drink much though since I haven't slept at all, and I have an ENT dr appt later today - don't want to show up intoxicated! haha Thanks for the message! I feel relieved that I finished it! Lizzie
