I submitted my name to work with the students at Wingate University School of Pharmacy, when asked on this or the OUCH board. It was fun and rather informative to work with a pharmacy student. My student said that the term is almost over, and she will not be sending her weekly questions to me, anymore. What a shame! It was fun. I asked her how the class evaluated the experience, and if most of the patients, that they were working with, continued through the whole semester. Thellowing is her answer and thought I would pass it on, so that those that were involved can read it. And hopefully if we are asked again, people would be willing to get involved. QUOTE: Hi, Chuck! I’m glad that you enjoyed our communication this semester. Like I said, we can continue to stay in touch if you would like. You’re responses greatly affected my grade because you gave me well informed and real life experiences to share with my fellow classmates. You allowed me to share information almost every class. I learned a great deal from you this semester. I am relieved that after those initial years you were able to become knowledgeable about your condition and found a healthcare provider that respects your opinions. Overall, the class enjoyed this interaction with their patient. We all became more informed on how patients’ deal with their conditions and what they need from their healthcare providers. There were several of us who had a patient suffering from cluster headaches. Most of our patients said very similar things regarding the treatment and the explanation of how the pain feels. Actually, one cluster headache patient claimed that they are completely headache free! Overall, all of the patients responded for the full semester and provided thorough responses. I am sure that this class be taught to the next incoming class. It offers us an opportunity to learn how to communicate with our patients. Thank you and I wish you the best in overcoming the cluster headaches! UNQUOTE Chuck

I got a real kick out of participating and will definitely do it again. My student had much the same comments. During the course of our exchanges, I invited him to look at the website and he seemed very impressed at the amount of information and support we provide here. He seemed amazed that we try to take care of our supporters as well. I let him know that on this site, we are not just a bunch of people whining about headaches - we are a family and while we might fight amongst ourselves once in a while, we take care of our own. Anyways, this was a rewarding experience for me. One that I will repeat.
