Larry King

Yesterday, Larry King had one of his headache panels. Seymour? Diamond was there and a MD named Lawless. King's beautiful wife (the old fart), Lee Grant, and an actress who was one of The Brady Bunch kids. At least CH was mentioned along with the forms of Migraine. It also turns out that besides Migraines, King's wife has also been diagnosed with CH. King has taken her to ERs for morphine and other treatments. She said she was having an "aura" during the interview...whatever that meant in this case. Diamond and Lawless pretty much agreed with us smartahses on symptoms and Lee Grant said a good friend in the movie profession had CH. I suppose it was Frank Capra. CH was a very minor part of this show but at least it was mentioned by them and one call-in. Lots of Imitrex, Topomax, beta blockers, Zomig, and hormone therapy disgussed with varying results. Oh. Lee Grant said her friend dragged an O2 tank with him wherever he went and it help him greatly when it got so he was screaming on bathroom floors. The docs were big O2 fans as well. Diamond said 90% O2 was effective. This isn't someting I understand but I thought you will have your say. Something anyway. Charlie

That's great for us! Sure, it would be better if Larry had ch himself, but at least that's something. Little publicity is good publicity.

I was watching that, I was not impressed by the panel. I don't care who they are or were? They did not seem well informed and it drove me nuts just to sit there and watch the show. Then when Diamond himself said that CH was a man headache and could not believe the call had been dx with ch because she was a woman. I turned the show off.

| They are lucky you weren't in the audience, you would have went up there and kicked his ass. Or hit him over the head with your O2 tank.

| If my memory is correct - he said - Cluster headaches are natures way of evening things out. Women get meegrens and men get clusterheadaches. 90% of all cases are men. He could not believe she was dx with clusterheadaches because she was a women. But then went on to talk about 02 treatment she asked about.

What a moron! Does Diamond think because he is a famous doctor he can ignore the most simple mathematical principles? Even if his 10% figure were correct, the chances to find a female clusterhead are much larger than to win the lottery jackpot, and that happens from time to time I hear.

Some information is better than no information. In the past couple months we've now had the Discovery special, now Larry King, etc... on headaches. And the information while imperfect has attracted quite a few people to learn more. If you watched these boards after the Discovery special, a lot of people found there way and got more info --- good info. The conventional media will never be a great source of good information, but at least it gets SOME information out. And I understand female sensitivity on the subject. But step outside of your gender issues for a moment and be pleased about any momentum that can be created by ANY exposure. Whether it is incomplete or flawed.

| Yes be pleased that now even more people are going to say "Only men get those, I saw a famous headache Dr. on Larry King and that's what he said." Yes women rejoice! You don't have clusters. I declare Gena the winner in this argument.

| Based on your faith in the american public and their mental capacity why would you even worry. you're of the opinion that they wouldn't have remembered a single thing past the imitrex commercial anyway. so the idea that they would be around the watercooler the next day talking about how all those poor guys suffer so with those headaches, sure am glad my daughter will never get anything like that, is moot anyway. My original argument, which I don't believe is wrong, is that the clusterheads are tough group to make happy when it comes to any kind of publicity. I don't believe that point was argued.

so have we been officially categorized as a "minority group"? I missed that on the last census, sorry. I don't disagree with Gena. She can win. Women most often do win arguments even though think they aren't arguing. I often make a lot of "points" for the sake of making "points" and find it is better for my emotional state if I don't consider it an argument. Have a blast with that one. I hung it out on the clothesline for you. Maybe there are some "points" to be made about it. Larry King sucks but he could of covered the Michael Jackson case for ANOTHER night instead.

| No we are not an official minority group, however we are a group, and we make up a very small percentage of the general population, so we are in the minority, make of it what you will. And as far as arguments go, I tell people what I think about an issue, period. If you don't agree with me, then that just means that your brain does not work the same as mine, this is no fault of your own, just a matter of chemistry and biology.
