Had sum people here today to look at pups & dogs(I run a small dog kennel here) and they were foreign....nice people......used up a good 1 1/2 hours of my time basically for a question and answer period I at times find annoying but it is obvious there interested in breeding in the future. So....they use me for a learning expirience and get as much info out as they can. Ok.....that's irritateing enuff but I handle'd it. But they'd look at dogs and pups and ask questions and suddenly break out into sum sort of fast talkin forgien GIBBERISH. Why did that piss me off so bad ?? USA english speaking bred Pam

Let's look at what you wrote and figure out why it pissed you off.............. on Apr 24th, 2005, 7:03pm, cootie wrote:Had sum people here today they were foreign....nice people......used up a good 1 1/2 hours of my time basically annoying ....they use me for a learning expirience and get as much info out as they can. | Nice people? Sounds to me like they're some very rude axxholes that are taking you for an idiot. If they want to buy dogs or pups then sell them some. At triple the normal price. In American cash only. And have them sign a statement stating they will never use your dogs for breeding. Hid the statement deep in receipt or any paper work that goes with dog selling. Or have a couple of the dogs "fixed" and don't tell the gibberish speakers.

An alternative very flattering to all non-American posters to this board: English / Giberish But I'm a bit confused: Since Cootie doesn't write in English, does she write gibberish ?

Well my former landlady just loved it when me and my flatmate were talking Finnish. She told us that it was the most beautiful language she has ever heard... I thought that was a nice thing thing to say. In general, when I'm around people who don't understand Finnish, I don't speak that but the language we all can speak.

| Hey Ueli, This site was created by an American, run by an American, located in America and supported in part by Americans. I am sick and tired of your bad mouthing America and Americans. Why don't you leave and find a CH site in your country! Yes, English is what I speak. And I am damn proud to be an American! I personally have had my fill of your anti-American bullshit!

Sometimes it's necessary for effective communication among those not well-versed in the native language. However, after a time this should be made clear. 5 minutes of this without some acknowledgment to others is impolite. I wish I had learned another language though. I'm old enough to recall that some useful knowledge of French was very much encouraged here when I was in school. Today, for Americans, Spanish would seem the most useful. Charlie

Pam, I'm thinking that you're mostly angered by their rudeness and the fact that they used you and wasted your time, and no matter what culture someone comes from, there's never any excuse for rudeness. My wife is Japanese and I am fluent in Japanese. A lot of times, when we're having a private conversation that we don't want others to overhear, we speak in Japanese. (Especially when we're discussing a high-dollar purchase in front of a high-pressure salesman, who won't give us the courtesy of leaving us alone to discuss things) I guess I see both sides of it, but to reiterate: There's never an excuse for the kind of rudeness that these people showed you.

| Being new immigrants, right off the boat in 1908, my grandparents spoke Italian within their families. It did not get them far in school. But for a long transition period both languages were spoken and now, when I've inquired with the elders, they are not sure they can even remember how to speak Italian anymore unless put again in that environment. Fluent English for over the past 60 years. Newer immigrants sometimes need the transition period because of older family values held within the home which doesn't encourage a better perfecting of their English skills, due to respect for elders within the family. Some people wish to acclimate faster than others. Charlie's right about the being impolite when being among the English speaking though. It makes you feel like you're not even there. I usually make sure they know I am still standing there. Kevin M

Yeah that's kind of what I was gettin at with this thread.....the people were nice and all......but on the phone beforehand they COULD of asked specific questions about the pup and dog I had available.....like nose color ! Instead of comeing all this way and bein here so long then decideing they had 'learned enuff' and didn't want a pup or dog because of nose color ? They were basicaly out and about that day....and wanting to learn how to do kennel stuff......kind of like goin to the pet store to obseve the animals and never even buy anything. Those people are paid to sit in there and put up with window shoppers. But when they come out here and ask me questions about breeding ect ect then look at each other and do the gibberish language thing it sort of bother'd me. As if they were discussing the operation 'behind my back' type of feeling. But they were nice people don't get me wrong. I get alot of people that come to get a puppy fix and I don't always have what people want. But it's pisses me off when a few pre-questions on the phone could of saved me sum wasted time with them. Guess what I am saying is PEOPLE SUCK. Well not YOU guys.....not most of you at least. And I basically type the way most people talk (for the most part but not always I agree cuz I like to fuck around with my ABC's).......gotta live here in the USA to appreciate it Pam
