Every year, a pair of Western Kingbirds raise a couple of sets of triplets on my front porch. We put the shelf there for barn swallows, but the kingbirds won the scuffle they had over it. Here's mama...she came back, freshened up the place and is ready to go. I'll post baby pics in a few weeks I'm sure.  Smiley

Your comment made me think about our 6 month old kitten the other night who experienced what happened to me when the beast and the abortive prompted me into an involuntary protein dump.  As I quickly entered the bathroom, drove the bus and leaned back to prepare for the next volley I noticed the cat, standing on his hind legs with his front paws on the rim looking at me with amazement as if to say "That was AMAZING!!!"  "That was the biggest hairball I've ever seen!!"

Edited because our cat got 2 months older in the last 9 minutes.

OMG Echo - you really should write for a living.

I can just see your cat standing in amazement.  ROFLMAO.  Did he salute you when your performance was complete?

Great pic! That reminds me... there are lots of birds nesting near our summer cottage. One of the most exciting things in my childhood was to find pieces of empty egg under a tree... Smiley
