My mom sent me this forward earlier today. I usually don't even have a chance to read forwards, but this one is very insightful and uplifting, so I thought I'd post it! Sorry all the little arrows are still there...don't have the energy to delete them all at the moment! >>Slow down for three minutes to read this. It is so worth it. Touching >>words from the mouth of babes. What does Love mean? A group of >>professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, >>"What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than >>anyone could have imagined. See what you think: >> >>---------- >>"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her >>toenails anymore. >> >>So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got >>arthritis too. That's love." >> >>Rebecca- age 8 >> >>---------- >>"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. >> >>You just know that your name is safe in their mouth." >> >>Billy - age 4 >> >>---------- >>"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne >>and they go out and smell each other." >> >>Karl - age 5 >> >>---------- >>"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French >>fries without making them give you any of theirs." >> >>Chrissy - age 6 >> >>---------- >>"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired." >> >>Terri - age 4 >> >>---------- >>"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip >>before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK." >> >>Danny - age 7 >> >>---------- >>"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, >>you still want to be together and you talk more. >>My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss" >> >>Emily - age 8 >> >>---------- >>"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening >>presents and listen." >> >>Bobby - age 7 (Wow!) >> >>---------- >>"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who >>you hate," >> >>Nikka - age 6 >>(we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet) >> >>---------- >>"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it >>everyday." >> >>Noelle - age 7 >> >>---------- >>"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still >>friends even after they know each other so well." >> >>Tommy - age 6 >> >>---------- >>"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at >>all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. >> >>He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore." >> >>Cindy - age 8 >> >>---------- >>"My mommy loves me more than anybody . >> >>You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." >> >>Clare - age 6 >> >>---------- >>"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken." >> >>Elaine-age 5 >> >>---------- >>"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is >>handsomer than Robert Redford." >> >>Chris - age 7 >> >>---------- >>"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone >>all day." >> >>Mary Ann - age 4 >> >>---------- >>"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes >>and has to go out and buy new ones." >> >>Lauren - age 4 >> >>---------- >>"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars >>come out of you." (what an image) >> >>Karen - age 7 >> >>---------- >>"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's >>gross." >> >>Mark - age 6 >> >>---------- >>"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you >>mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget." >> >>Jessica - age 8 >> >>---------- >>And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about >>a contest he was asked to judge. >> >>The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. >> >>The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an >>elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. >> >>Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's >>yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. >> >>When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, >> >>"Nothing, I just helped him cry"

Whew! Somebody get me a tissue quick! My favorite: "When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth." These were great! Thanks Lizzie… Langa

It would be wonderful if LOVE remained that pure and innocent. But as we get older and experience the tragedy of LOVE, we become somewhat jadded and disillusioned. It is a part of the human condition, the desire to LOVE and to be LOVED. If it were only as simple as we grew up believing.

Love is the way somebody else makes you feel about you!! And that feeling can be about a man or women friend or a child Thats my two cents anyway! And that feeling has no limits, which can be very scary at times!

My idea of love is seeing two elderly couples holding hands, going for walks, and giving one another a kiss regardless of who is around. Kids do see things much better then us it seems. Some days I would like to go back.

Glad you all liked it...it required tissues for me, too! There is love I've experienced in my life lately from some people which goes far above and beyond "romantic" love and into the realms of real love...as described here. My parents for one...their love for their children (my brother and I)..even though I'm 24 and my brother is 22. When I call my parents and am in the ER or something happens, they are always there. No matter what. My mom told me how awful my last boyfriend was, and I did not even know how to leave him...but my mom and dad were both there for me through the hard times with my ex-boyfriend and through all the times after and now through the other experience of "love." While I've only been with my current boyfriend for a few weeks.....and we don't say "I love you"...I do think it takes time for such things. But I think we show a love for each other that neither of us has really had the experience of having. I was on the phone with him for almost 3 hours last night...really talking through some of my fears with life and health and work and the future. He reassures me that he is not going to be pushed away by the headaches and all that is involved...I don't think he knows what he signed up for (haha), but I've never had anyone want to stick with me like he does. He wants to know how I'm really feeling, and he sees me as much more than a person with headaches...but a person with a life, too. I think I'd do anything within my power to be there for him if he needed me, too. Today is his birthday #28, so even though we won't get to hang out today, we will spend the weekend together...going to dinner, etc. I tried to find out where he would want to go out to eat, and all he says is, "I don't care so long as I get to spend time with you." Awwwwwwwwwwwwww...he means it, too!!! And that's how I feel. Still in that very early phase where we want to spend all the time we have together. But what strikes me, far above just the early phases of a "romance" is how much he cares and wants me to feel like I can lean on him through the stuff I'm going through. It doesn't push him away. I thought I was going to cry last night on the phone because I've never had anyone (outside my parents) that I could fully depend on and feel secure about it. He's safe, and I haven't ever had that with a person I've dated. So yeah...I'm in the mushy dreamy phase at the moment, and we keep talking about how cheesy we are with the stuff we say. However, we may not be at that point of saying "I love you" as part of our relationship, but I truly think the loving ways we care for each other go far deeper than words could ever say. I'm happy Lizzie

God, kids are so fantastic...I never knew the kind of love I feel for my grandson even existed...It is the kind that grabs hold of your heart and wont let go. If I could only bottle it, I could make millions....nevermind, it is priceless. smiles, nancyc
