Since my CH had dissipated for awhile, I started working out, and trying to undo the fun shit that meds have done to my body the last few years. Kind of turned over a new leaf the last couple of months, and right now the only thing I am missing more than my mind is my Mountain Dew (to which I have been addicted for years. Trying to 'kick' now, but water and fruit juice just don't pack the punch.) Now that the weather has broken, I have started walking the park. The CH returned and has been on a rotating schedule of every 2 to 4 hours. Yesterday, I walked for about 5 hours straight! By the time I got home, my feet were screaming. However, I did happen to notice that i didn't get hit while walking, and was only mildly shadowing. I've read before how some people exercise during a CH and it helps them. For me though, anything I do to get the blood going during a CH just amplifies it. If walking for long periods of time will keep the beast at bay though, I'll do it.

Your body will tell you what works for you - glad to hear the walking seems to help. Similar but different situation for me. I had joined a strength training class while pain free. Went into cycle and found that while exercising i felt great but when i got home from the class and was winding down i got slammed big time. So, i put off the strength training until i am completely pain free again. I'm probably being wimpy but the hits i got following the exercise were astronomical and i dunt wanna go there Best luck and pf wishes

I dont get much execise during the weekdays the kids at school and hubby at work. But on the weekends he has to force me to get out of the house. So he takes me for long walks.I get so nervous but I know it helps out with the stress.I always have to take an ice pack just in case the beast messes with me.Most of the time I luck out.But the times they have hit me while walking have been some of my worst.Thank God I dont eat very much cause I would really be in bad shape.I would love to exercise but just cant risk summonzing the beast.

Yes. Your body will tell you what it needs most of the time and for a lot of us, exercise, pretty strenuous exercise, works. Stuff like walking and the like require blood and oxygen. There is only so much to go around and that can keep the beast at bay. It makes sense to me anyway. Charlie

Mountain Dew is loaded with caffeine. Did your ch return when you gave up Mountain Dew? Just a thought as I require my daily caffeine to keep the beast under control.

| :::as enlightenment struck him he screamed "HOLY SHIT" and the others just looked at him::: You know what? I never gave it a second thought but I have gone without Dew for a week... and the CH's have been back for a week. A coincidence? I think not. Had you not mentioned it Renee I might not have made a connection. Actually, I thought giving up caffiene for awhile might help enhance the pf time I have had and defeat the insomnia. Looks like I am headed to the store. Today I only walked for 3 hours due to the dogs barking loudly. As soon as I got to my brothers house, sat down and started talking to my sis in law, within minutes I got hit and had to 'bang some Trex.' My sis in law is worried about how much I have been using and I keep making stupid jokes like "It's not a habit, I can quit any time I want" or "If I can survive Granite City air, I will survive a heart attack or two." It's been said that no one likes a smartass. However, we still get talked to more than the dumbasses. Carl

Carl, As I sit here drinking me coffee during my middle of the night hit I wonder: Have you bought more Mountain Dew yet? I hope the caffeine does the trick for you. If your beast is like mine, the Mountain Dew/caffeine should have you back to "normal" ch activity soon. Wishing you luck, Renee

LOL, I had just enough for a 2 litre and left right after I read this post. Drank a big glass before I went to bed, got awoke about 2 hours later, did a shot. Been drinking Dew and fine since. Interesting. Good can be bad for CH (Trex, other nasty meds that 'help' ) Bad can be good for CH (Caffiene, Hallucinogens, eastern herbs, Lawrence Welk music at 45 rpm speed, etc. ) CD

Exercise works for me when I actually am up to doing it. When I do go for a run the beast stays in the shadows and is truly bearable. Coffee is my drink of choice. The last two days I didn't drink any and I got hit last night. My husband wanted me to take a Trex before it got worse and I gritted my teeth from pain and said it isn't time. I was right the Melatonin helped. One night I miss judged the time and once I took the Trex it sent me right into a hit and my hubby worries that I wait to long, but damn those things cost to much... I hate Trex more and more everytime I take it. Will take it if nothing else works and it is bad enough. Keep up with the exercise if it works.

Need my caffine. Not sure if it triggers the CH or if it trggers my other HA that triggers the CH. Does not really matter. All I know is that no caffine makes Tia be in a bad place. Dont really know if exccersise (I know spelled that way wrong) will help. I lost 20% moton in my back 4 yrs ago and because of that injury my knees and hips are screwed. So excersise it not really something I can do. Hope the Caffine helps you Carl. Get back to PF life.
