Here's my score...... CATEGORY ACRES FOOD 5.4 MOBILITY 3.7 SHELTER 13.6 GOODS/SERVICES 11.9 TOTAL FOOTPRINT 35 oops, sorry for taking everyone else's acreage. the site seems kind of whiny to me, you do the whole scoring thing to find out, "you suck, you capitalist, suv driving, selfish, polluting, processed food eating, pig -- oh but would you like to donate to the cause of making other capitalist, suv driving, selfish, polluting, processed food eating, pigs feel worse." Or did I just take it too personally?

Total acreage = as much as I need to piss off the tree huggers that created this web site and this test. I think I'll go cruising around in my new gass guzzling SUV by myself tonight and see how much processed food I can find that will create the biggest amount of waste. I'll leave the water running and the lights on while I'm gone. 24 acres.

hmmm...I don't know if I buy all their assumptions... " Ecological Footprint calculations are based on five assumptions: 1. It is possible to keep track of most of the resources people consume and many of the wastes people generate. Much of that information can be found in existing official statistics. 2. Most of these resource and waste flows can be converted into the biologically productive area that is required to maintain these flows. 3. These different areas can be expressed in the same unit (hectares or acres) once they are scaled proportionally to their biomass productivity. In other words, each particular acre can be translated to an equivalent area of world-average land productivity. 4. Since these areas stand for mutually exclusive uses, and each standardized acre represents the same amount of biomass productivity, they can be added up to a total—a total representing humanity's demand. 5. This area for total human demand can be compared with nature's supply of ecological services, since it is also possible to assess the area on the planet that is biologically productive. " Does it really take 5 acres of land to feed little Zach (and only Zach) for a year? I suppose it's possible. I'm not a very good farmer.

Unlike you capitalist world oppressors, I decided to change my life. By moving my family (3 of us) into a 500 sq. ft. hut with no electricity, eating no meat or other animal products whatsoever and only consuming organically, locally grown grown food (the scurvy and near-starvation occasionally gets annoying at times), walking everywhere, never driving or flying, I was shocked to find that I still rate 1.1 planets. Just for giggles, after I received the wonderful score of "IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 3.4 PLANETS.", I decided to enter the same info, but change my country from America to Nigeria and I got a score of "IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 2 PLANETS." I guess I should feel bad for being an American... Actually, I am proud of how many people I put to work through my consumption. It's my little part in the war on poverty. I wonder how much of the earth's precious resources the eco-freak is using to keep that web site going? Hirvimaki-I-still-consume-Isi

CATEGORY ACRES FOOD 5.9 MOBILITY 14.3 SHELTER 20.3 GOODS/SERVICES 31.4 TOTAL FOOTPRINT 72 IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON. That sounds bad. Whatever, I live alone in a house, I have a long commute and I have to fly alot for work. It's called being an engineer. Fun quiz though.
