I have been named as a defendant in a Boston Fair Housing Commission complaint alleging descrimination.
Apparantly one of the households in our portfolio feels they could not celebrate Three Kings Day as they would have wanted to and its partially my fault. I descriminate against Hispanics.
WTF is Three Kings Day? (dont answer I looked it up)

Oooh Don.. you meanie! I'm stumped though.. what on earth COULD you have possibly done to prevent them celebrating? And this says that celebrations were going to be loud/noisy/whatever so whatabout the rights of other tenants?
Just out of curiosity.. are they in arrears?!!

Institutional racism is especially prevelant. We often don't even realize how much.

Some bigotry is so entrenched in American language we don't even know when we're using it. "Paddy wagon" is one such term. Even Webster's defines the term — "an enclosed motortruck used by police to carry prisoners" — without mention of its derogatory etymology. But look up "Paddy," just one line above, and the problem becomes clear: "Irishman — often taken to be offensive."
"Paddy" is derived from the stereotypical notion that all Irish males were named Patrick — or Padraig in the Irish language, hence "Paddy."
"All About Irish," an online cultural resource, explains Irish immigrants in the 19th century were "at the bottom of the social hierarchy" and found themselves stereotypically characterized as drunken miscreants.
"Paddy" then was combined with "wagon" in the 1920s — some sources date it earlier, others a bit later — to describe police vans that allegedly picked up so many "Paddies." Similar references reach into the mid-20th century, and the word remains in use today, appearing in the media and casual conversation.
The Boston Globe, for example, has apologized for inadvertently using the term: "The Globe has tried for years to eliminate it, routinely inserting 'patrol wagon' instead," wrote Ombudsman Christine Chinlund in 2004.
Tolerance.org shares this dilemma; despite our best efforts, the term "paddy wagon" appears sporadically in some of our materials as well, usually in quoted materials.
Some sources attribute the name to the number of Irish police offices in Boston, New York and other cities. Others say the term refers to padding found inside the patrol vans. Both of these diminish or ignore the inherent bigotry of the term "Paddy."
The Ancient Order of Hibernians of America is unequivocal in its assessment of the term: "... the Irishman's disorderly conduct was always thought to be the result of inebriety (and) the derisive term 'paddy' wagon originated in this environment."
