Nearly Got Hit At A Concert Last Night

Been 8 days since the 3 attacks after being CH free for 21 days prior. Last night a friend took me to a concert. The opening band was KASABIAN (The band I have been raving about) and they were INCREDIBLE live. I was highly impressed and that's not easily done being a picky musician. The headlining band, The Music, was good but not great. The drummer used the same beats in almost every song. My buddy agreed that KASABIAN stole the show. What was funny is, alot of bands wait until the encore to do their big hit single, as Kasabian did "Club Foot" as an encore. The Music's big hit is a song called "Breakin" and not only did they not play it through the show, they didn't even do an encore. We were kind of dumbfounded by that.

The venue in St Louis "The Pageant" is a great place to see a show up close and personal. However, they have these laser lights that will shine into the crowd and spin around, and too often they will hit you dead in the eyes and blind you. It happened a few times during Kasabian's set, but during The Music's performance, those things pulsated and twirled non-stop. After a few songs, my head started hurting bigtime. For most of the rest of the show I just looked down and tried to clamp off my neck. I hit prolly about a level 4 before it started subsiding. We were both pretty bummed about the lights.

Makes me wonder just how safe those laserlights are. I know with laser pointers and laser scanners, opitcal exposure can do alot of damage, kind of like staring into the sun. They are cool to use at times, but not to blind the audience.

I didn't get much sleep, have 5 billion things to do today, so the coffee IV is plugged in.  Grin

Peace,
CD

For whatever reason, watching TV or videos seems to kick off shadows for me, Carl. I don't know why...

Laser pointers are nice, but not for shining in people's eyes.  There's nothing more dangerous than an officer with a map idiot with a little technology.

I've heard that some bands will stop a show if the audience starts flashing lasers up on stage.  And some clubs blast the crowds with lasers.  Interesting planet.
