Curious... does anyone else have this?

firstly, we have noted a very moderate improvement in Dave's CH since the onset of Kudzu - this is the 3rd day... he is still getting hit, but shadowing less hard and resting better in between. We will keep on keepin on. But my question for the day is this... Dave gets a brilliant maroon patch on the back of his neck, dead center and at the base of his skull when he starts to get hit. As the hit tapers down, so does the color of the skin in that area. So... is the hypothalmus getting a major increase in blood supply during hits? Anyone have anything similar? Sometimes he also gets what we call his red spider... a visible reddening of the skin on his face and it moves around his cheek, jaw, and temple area as the hit progresses and wanes. ??? What's up with that?

Annette? Does Dave have any rosatia history in his family? That may explain a little of the red patchy stuff on his face. Not sure if it would apply to his neck however. I dod know that temperature increase can make rosatia worse, and we all know that there is a definate increase in heat when we get hit.

Rosatia no... childhood eczema yes. but this only happens when he is getting hit, and as for heat, total Furnace Boy during a hit- he can dry up a cool cloth in no time flat. but this patch on the back of his neck is under the skin, not on the surface, no difference in skin texture or anything. it reddens up as the hit comes on, gets really dark maroon color and then fades with the hit. When not under attack it cannot be seen. Weird huh?

Annette, Is this only since he devoped the health probs after the pred thing, or has this been the case all along? Glad to hear the Kudzu is doing something. I don't care if we've stumbled on the Ultimate Placebo. Most folks have good things to say about it. Nobody has anything bad to say. Tell Dave I say Hi. RJ

I've been told my head gets red during a major hit, but never any notice of blotching to my knowledge. The first time I shaved my head I expected to maybe see a bulge in the temple, but nothing. I am so glad the Kudzu is starting to help Dave. Hopefully this is just the break he needs to turn things around. More rest and real sleep could begin rejuvenating him. Keeping the fingers crossed here, sending vibes and keeping the prayers going out. Carl

Annette, Mike's cluster bump gets red like that during an attack too. He, too, is Furnace Boy - he melts ice packs within about 10 minutes. Mike's ear on the affected side also goes bright red about 10 minutes before an attack. Not to worry, Dave's not out of the norm here. Glad to hear that kudzu is helping him. Please send him our prayers, my friend. Hugs and love, Margi

My face turns brilliant red during an attack. I thought Doc Robinson, in Vancouver, attributed the neck thing as the area of the trigeminal nerve (?) ganglion, hence the pain in that area. The hypo is deep within the brain and wouldn't show on his neck.

I think it is probably from nerve activity during a hit, although any skin condition could make it more noticeable. Definitely talk it over with a doctor, it may not be significant, but worth checking out. I developed rosacea about 2 years ago, any stimulus can set my skin on the left side of neck to bright red - heat, cold, wind, sun, all trigger flushing.
