Vent...(no reply needed)

I promised myself I wasn't going to post a vent over my decision.  But I'm breaking that promise.

It was a year ago that I begain waking up in the night with the painless wake up calls.  Had been a non-smoker for just over a week, and thought at the time maybe it was related to no nicotine in my system anymore.  This went on for two weeks...I was exhausted, but still going to work and functional.  Then all hell broke loose.

A couple weeks back I made the decision to start going off meds slowly in preparation for (other) treatment options.  Well I'm not altogether sure that I made the right choice.  Suffice it to say that in my excitement and antisipation I jumped the gun.  Not all the things I need have arrived as I antisipated.

Over the last year the verap had tamed the beast to a certain degree, where the individual attacks had been far less intence than in the years past.  I hadn't had the pain in my upper molars during a hit since starting the verap.  But damn...since being off it they even ache with a bad shadow.  I've been wondering all weekend how the hell I ever made it through those nights.  Maybe ignorance is bliss after all.  Least back then I had no clue what the hell it was...was satisfied in the misguided belief that the sudafed and other OTC things I was using just took a while to *kick in* and all was fine in my world.

Is this even worth it now.  My melatonin and benadryl cocktail hasn't worked in over a week now after three months of success.  Not sure if it's the lack of verap now, or just the end of a good thing.

Sorry to lay this on you guys... but I know you are the only ones who will really understand.

Shot in the dark here, but I wondered about the Antihistamine thing too, Your body does get used to antihistamines after  a while. I thought maybe if we changed the type of antihistamine for awhile would it work? I am ready to try it.....

I not sure what to say, Redd.  Just when I think I got this CH thing figured out, I realize I don't really know much of anything.

I can only offer this bit of hope:  when I finally decided to taper off verapamil, I paid a severe price for 6 days after I was totally verapamil free.  I continued on my withdrawl program and things eventually improved.  I now call it 'The Verapamil Boomerang'.  I have no explanation for it.  My last CH hit was 2 days ago (my last verapamil dose was in November).  In many ways our situations are not comparable because you get hit with much greater frequency than me.

I no longer know what to think of CH.  I get hit a couple times a week lately.  Sometimes alcohol triggers and sometimes not.  I'm expecting my situation to get much worse in April... but who knows.  Maybe I'm a 'chronic in low tide'.

Whatever path you choose, don't beat yourself over it.  You can only know what you know.

Best wishes for better times  Kiss

Red
I use a sprig of clove chrushed between my upper & lower molars to relieve the pain in that area, it works as a local anasthetic.

If you dont want the hastle of keeping raw cloves around try the clove oil, just dip a cotton bud in the oil and wipe it over the tooth and gum.
Both of these may not completly get rid of the ache but will give a little reliefe.

I've carried cloves around in my first aid kit for years as a fix in preference to drugs.

Kind Regards
Barry
