Need some input!

I found out today that I have pneumonia, and I've had a strong shadow going on for the past 3 days, nothing bad, maybe a 3-4 level, just a steady pressure on the temple and eye. Tonight, after starting the zithromax and tesserle perles for the pneumonia, now I have severely blurred vision. I've tried everything I can think of to get this to go away but it's not working. 1)Does anyone know of something that might cause this? 2)What can I do to make it go away, it's driving me BONKERS! Are your eyes burning? Tessalon can cause that. Otherwise, neither lists blurry vision as a major side effect. But...are you feeling dizzy or lightheaded? They both can cause dizziness. And I think it is Tessalon that can cause orthostatic hypotension, which could indirectly lead to blurry vision. They both can cause headache which can lead to blurry vision for some people. Any of this hitting a key? I'd call the pharmacist or even 1800 Eckerd if you don't have a 24 hour pharmacy available. If they don't know...then get a doc on the phone...if you think it is that bad. My only other suggestion is to lie down with a wet washcloth on your eyes or an ice pack if you can tolerate it. **Not giving medical advice** But..I think your best bet would be to call the pharmacist! I hope you feel better!!!! Lizzie2

Cat, I'm on Zithromax too. Bad sinus infection, and I missed work for most of last week. Low-grade fever, etc. It finally spiked up to 102.6. Yuck... I hope you feel better soon. Ditto Carrie's advice. Good luck! -Frank

| Turn off the monitor and go to bed. You've got pnucking fumonia. Start hacking up them phlegm balls, or your lungs will NOT receive the full nicotine and tar benefits that are your due. The tesselon side effects sound pretty cool. Side effects may include: Allergic reactions, burning sensation in the eyes, constipation, dizziness, extreme calm (sedation), headache, itching, mental confusion, nausea, numbness in chest, skin eruptions, stuffy nose, upset stomach, vague "chilly" feeling, visual hallucinations. Go to bed, RJ

Do what the wingnut says. Get to bed. I used to pay big money for those side effects.

I think Svenn's advise is sound. But err on the side of caution. Use a BIG glass.

LOL, thanks folks, I needed the laughter. Feeling better today, spent the weekend in bed, got all rested up and my lungs are on the mend. Still got a nasty cough and the whole shortness of breath and chest pain though. Ah well, maybe next time I'll listen to those around me (read as Mr. Happy and my Hubby) and go to the doc before it turns into pneumonia! hehe. .....nah. Blurred vision is gone, so either it was the drugs, or I had something in my eye. Cat

Glad to hear that you're on the mend, Cat. The blurred vision sounds quite scary, so I'm glad that has cleared up as well. Be well, my friend. -Frank

Cat... Glad to hear you are on the mend!! Tomorrow is my last day on Penicillan for strep throat. I've only ever had strep one time in my life back in 1998, so I was shocked to get it again. It meant that I am really run down, which made me more susceptible to the junk going around! The first time I went to my doc was the day after I started having the really awful sore throat and ears hurting. She did a strep test which was negative, and she didn't want to give me antibiotics at the time because of overuse of them. She told me to take some over the counter allergy meds, and if that didn't work in 3-4 days to come back. Well...2 days after that, I woke up in the middle of the night in tears because of how much my throat hurt. I didn't even bother to take my temp. I couldn't even talk so I was communicating with my family using one word communication or hand signals! hehehe By the time I got to the doctor, I had a fever and she said I definitely was in full blown strep at that point. So I was put on the PCN and liquid motrin. I used the children's motrin because it helped my throat be able to swallow my meds since it was so swollen, and then also it brought down the fever. Right now, I just feel the remnants of a sucky cold. Kind of the hangover effect from being sick. The day I was diagnosed with the strep, I slept 16 hours from 1pm until the next morning! It was great and definitely made me feel better! Pneumonia is nothing to joke around with, though!! I'm glad to hear you are feeling better, and I hope it continues! Glad the blurry vision is gone! Take care of you!!! Hugz, Lizzie2/Carrie
