Coolest thing a friend did for you...?

Today here in Finland we celebrate not only our loved ones but also our dear, dear friends. As I was reading the cards my friends send me, I was wondering that what is the coolest, nicest, most important thing a friend has ever done for you?

I am going to more serious...I am into my third week of clusters and I tend to become a hermit, feed my family soup out of a can, and don't do much for fear of a h/a hitting me. So the nicest, most thoughtful thing a friend has done for me lately was invite my family over on Saturday for a wonderful home cooked meal. She made so much and made us take the left-overs home. She even pulled the curtains in the living room to darken it and had told her kids about the h/a's and asked them to be sensitive to it. She knew I had a really bad one the night before and was struggling with the shadow all day...she even smoked outside. I had a really enjoyable evening and my kids ate well and played with friends. I felt almost normal ! Cheryl

14 years ago I met my best friend Lori in NYC. We were arguing in the middle of the street about who flagged the taxi cab first. We decided to share the taxi and turns out we lived a block away from each other. She's been there for me unconditionally since, but mostly she cries with me and dries my tears when life gets shitty as it tends to do from time to time. I've been blessed with great friends, but she's my favorite...LOL Langa

I would have to say the coolest thing was not even a friend but a total stranger. my wife was driving and hit a monster pot hole, blew out left rear tire and bent rim on left front. A couple of people stopped to help and 1 even broke his lug wrench. A young kid working for dominoes pizza stopped and went to his house got a bigger wrench then also a compressor we aired up the front tire and changed the rear finially at 300 am then drove 12 miles to the nearest town, about 1/2 mile out we blew the front tire and limped the rest of the way in. I was not sure I would have enough to get new tires but had to try having my kids with me. I felt totally out of control. We had to sleep in the van and at 800 am the garage opened and the guy there gave us 4 used tires incase we had more trouble and straightened the rims.all for free.

Canoeing on the Mulberry River, in Arkansas, during spring break about 23 years ago. Front came through and rained ass at the first camp site and the river flooded at about 2:00am. Barely saved the canoes and lost most all of our gear. Wet, freezing, canoes tied to tree tops, my truely best friend pulled a dry Notre Dame jersey from his pack and gave it to me. We were unable to continue, so we went back to Lafayette and got drunk. Next week Ray fell off a building and died. I was unable to return the jersey to him. I wear it now at superbowl parties, hiking in the Smoky Mountains and other special times. I miss my friend Ray. Steve G

I asked you this, because last spring when I had very rough time with CH, a friend I met at uni in UK saved me from getting to a self-destructive road. CH made me depressed and I coudn't see a way out but she did. I will never forget that...

Sweet Gibson's!!!! I keep saying one of these days I will have a Les Paul. Oh yes, I will own one. Though it will never match my Jackson Stealth with double locking Floyd Rose and custom EMG actives! One of these days I'll get to post a pic of it here. Coolest thing a friend did for me? Damn, there are so many cool things that people have done for me. After I became chronic, my buddy Kenny (who has been a friend since we were teens) had me over to his cat-infested house one day (I am allergic, he has like 7 cats. ) I was fairly green with being online and didn't even have a computer at that time. Anyways, he did a search on cluster headaches and I found one site that talked about circadaean rhythms and lighting techniques. Then he found a site called Clusterheadaches.com. I was floored as I read peoples posts. I couldn't believe it! Not only did I find that there were other people out there with this affliction, there were ALOT of them. I ran over to my brothers house and showed my sis in law this site. As she read through the board (It wasn't as big with as many people back then) she started to cry. She said "I had no idea these were really that bad. I thought you were exagerrating." After she read some more she said, "If I didn't know any better I would think you wrote every single one of these posts." Everything I had said for years was right here in print, by other people. So, with all of the cool things that have been done for me over the years, I think that one takes 1st prize. Kenny inadvertantly introduced me to what would become my extended family. He was the one who picked me up from the bus station after DavCon. He said "Was it cool?" I responded, "It was hella-cool!" Peace & LYG, CD

| NIIIICE!!! I really miss the 78 LP Custom I used to have. I picked this up yesterday for $160.00. The EMG pickups and original Floyd Rose Tremelo on it are worth over $250.00 alone. So my wife got a new SUV for valentines day and I got an OLD guitar. I had to buy her some flowers to even the score up a little.

My best friend is a guy named Mike Ward . He got me drunk my first time when I was 16 he was 15 . We have had enough adventures together over the years that could literally fill a book ( incuding a guinness book world record together) In 1999 my clusterheadaches got the best of me My business was on the ropes because For 5 months straight I couldn't preform. I had a business loan come due and the bank wanted their money. I was a mess and he came over one night and he could see I was suffering,I told him I was in need of some money. He never even asked me what it was about then proceeded to write me out a check for $15,000.00 dollars. which was about all the cash he had in the world. Stilll brings tears to my eyes. He always said his grandfather said if you have one true friend in your life time you should feel blessed ! well I truly am blessed, by the way I did pay him back. Boonie

Almost three years ago, a dear 18 year old friend had a near fatal heart attack. (virus induced) He was in perfect shape. I realized what was going on, drove him to hospital 20 miles away and sat with him for 8 hours. One week later he's home and recovering. Forward to the eve of the 2nd anniversary of the attack. Coming around a blind corner, I screwed up and took the corner too sharp and hit a car, his car. This time it was my heart that almost stopped. $1300.00 dollars damage to his 2003 Sunfire After my appologizing profusly, he walks over to me, wraps his arms around me and tells me it will be fine. (first time an accident was ever my fault) Day of the anniversary, I have to go to the police and make an accident report, yay! I come back to the summer camp where we work together, and he meets me at the door and says there is something in my room. Open the door to find an amazing bouquet of 12 pink roses... thanks for what I did for him....More hugs, more tears and thanks to God for letting me share time with this amazing young man. There is so much more to our friendship than I could tell here. And it is just a friendship-he's 21, i'm 36 and married. We've worked together for five summers at our church camp, and I thank God every day for putting someone like him in my world. Danielle
