New Meds - Again!

Well, I went to see my family practice doc today. He started me on a new med. LOL but seriously, I had to stop taking the tegretol. Besides the fact that it wasn't working, it gave me such a loud ringing in my ears it was driving me mad. I've been off of it for over a week now and the ringing still hasn't totally gone away. Sonata, which was his miracle sleep drug, did nothing for me, so stopping that. That crap is friggin expensive anyways. I told him about my little 5 day bout of insomnia. He couldn't believe I was still standing after that long, let alone functioning. So now I am still taking Nortriptyline and adding Seroquel. It's an anti-psychotic (for schitzophrenia and manic-depressive disorders). He says if nothing else, THIS should help me sleep. Yeah, I've heard THAT one before. Does Sonata ring a bell? LOL At least he's trying. More that I can say for my recently retired neuro. He had given up on all but the big DHE IV vacation. Can't afford that no matter how well it might work. He has also gotten me referred to a neurologist at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center Headache Department - a Dr Marc Lenaerts. Hmmm. I guess now I am gonna be a crash test dummy for OU Medical Center. So, we begin a new phase of trial and error with new meds and soon, a new neurologist.

Tegritol, which is supposed to be a big deal anti-convulsant, is no picnic. My neurologist won't use it. Hope you find something soon though. Charlie
