There were a bunch of new critical updates from Microsoft this morning. These are some pretty important ones and they affect all operating systems from Microsoft. Pay closest attention to the one labeled MS05-011. Here's a link for you. http://www.techweb.com/wire/security/59302005 Now, it's time for me to patch 450 computers. Ahh....... Job security. Thanks Uncle Bill!!!

Download all critical updates. Should be 9 - 10 of them depending on what's on your machine...... Bill

Woobie, I'm sorry I wasn't a little more descriptive with my warning. I was trying to plan out how I was going to update 450 systems today while I was writing up the warning. I work with a bunch of computer geeks and sometimes I'm pretty obscure with this stuff expecting everyone to just know all about it. Run Windows Update and install ALL of the critical updates. It will provide the correct ones for your operating system. Running Windows Update is really easy from Internet Explorer. Just go to the menu and click on 'Tools' and then select 'Windows Update'. The rest is pretty easy to follow. BTW: I don't think your stooooopid. Someone stupid would have just tried it without asking first.

| A service pack is basically a bunch of updates all rolled into one package. If things go wrong, you (theoretically) should be able to un-install it from the 'Add/Remove progams' icon in Control Panel.

Windows? People still use Windows? Next you'll tell me that there are still people using Microsoft Internet Explorer. Quit pulling my leg. Hirvimaki-Isi

| From what I see a service pack is a Operating system upgrade, For instance Vendors write software now that will work on Win2000 service pack 4 but will not run on Win2000 through service pack 3. There are now a lot of Drivers released for the new Operating system WinXP SP2 because the upgrade broke the old drivers. As for removing SP2, my wife tried that because it was impossible to run some hardware on it and it messed up the whole system to the point of it needing a clean reinstall. I'm glad all I need to do for an upgrade is to type apt-get dist-upgrade and everything will be upgraded to the next version system. Opus/Paul
