Did you become it?
When I was little, I wanted to be a Policeman or Fireman. I thought to be cool.
Then, at the age of 7 I discovered KISS, and decided I wanted to be a rock star.
Did I become it? Why certainly. Small scale of course.
Hey, when the king wants autographs, it's good enough for me! 
Seriously, I see a new dawn on the horizon. Seems surreal, but is there.

I wanted to be a zoologist-really. I love animals and nature shows, National geographic and the like. I was also interested in anthropology. I ended being a medical secretary and also a nurse aide. I don't believe in dreams anymore. I still love animals. I like my profession now too, I really fit in.

I wanted to be a veterinarian. When I was 12 I spent three months in a professional apprenticeship with a rural vet in Sheridan Oregon (through the school I attended). Although I enjoyed it very much, the first time I witnessed a surgery (a dog's crushed leg being "put beack together" with pins) I realised it was not the career path for me.
The other thing I wanted to be when I grew up was an artist. Although I am now a successful artist (and a graphic designer), I am still waiting to grow up.

I'd always wanted to be a Psychologist, or a performer. Was in a few bands early in life before marriage and children. Post divorce I was a Psychology major for 4 years till I had to drop out right at finals to care for Mom before, during and after an emergency brain surgery.
Put in the effort, but I guess things just weren't meant to be.

While I was growing up I wanted to enlist in the armed services particarly Marine corps or air force. I wanted to go in as an officer after college and be put on the front line for conflicts. They said they wouldn't' give me a chance to die for my country and figt for it like a man would. So I skipped that idea and became a computer programmer.

I wanted to be a cop, a firefighter, a doctor, a scientist, a gangbanger (thanks to the movie Warriors ), soldier, movie star (the direct to tape kind ) the only one I managed to do was the soldier gig, but I got to do a little science, paramedic stuff and shoot guns, so the firefighter/cop things were satisfied enough for my needs.

I wanted to be a medic in the Army. That's exactly what I did. I wanted to visit Asia. That's exactly what I did.
I wanted a warm, close, and loving family. So far, so good.
I wanted to be a pilot. I flew on Hueys in the Army as a medic, flew a powered parachute (ultralight) fora few years, and logged 15 hours and solo'd in a Cessna, and have logged time in a Cherokee and a Navion.
I wanted to learn to scuba dive. I go for my qualification dives this coming spring.
I wanted a Jeep. I drive a Jeep.
I wanted to take a bullet in the head while pulling a wounded comrade out of the line of fire. Fortunately, I didn't succeed at that.
