I'm stating this "outloud" so I never forget. I'm tired of crappy meds and docs bouncing back and forth (lupus? yes? now don't know? MS? yes? now not sure? maybe I dunno) WTF I decided I just don't want to freakin know now! I know many disagree with the natural/herbal remedies crap but I'm going to study, learn, then try it. I have so many doctor bills due to CH and other matters its unreal. I have to actually consider bankruptcy!
I'm going to continue to take my lith and verap until I can afford to try the alternative treatment. Then I will wean myself off them, and GO FOR IT!
I'm going to take my prescription anti inflammatory until I have learned enough about herbal/natural alternatives then I'm going to stop taking the prescription (it's as needed anyways)
I got FAT on meds. Took over a year to lose most (but not all) of that weight! I've gotten swollen on meds. I've gotten moody, felt shitty, even more tired, felt clouded, etc etc you all know how the meds affect us. I've practically put us in the poor house cause of doctors bills, prescriptions, hospital stays, etc. What good has it all done? I still have CH, I still have migraines, I still have SOME kind of auto immune disease.
That's it done with docs. I am on a freakin mission to care for my body MYSELF without "professional" help.
That's my rant and thanks for hearing it.

God, I sooooo know how you feel. I was confused when I was only seeing one doc. Now I am seeing 3 different ones and can't keep up.

I hope you'll find something which works...
My pal's family relies on alternative medication. They keep on encouraging me to read a book by Louise L. Hay. I'm not sure if I recall the title right, but it was something like 'You Can Heal Your Life'. I haven't read that but she apparently has cured herself from cancer by using alternative methods.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I don't suffer from CH but my husband does. We have been to some real winners in the doc catagory. The last one was yesterday and boy did he think he was the greatest. Almost killed my husband with some of the meds that he tried. I let him have a mouthful yesterday and we came home. Also going to try natural healing since none of the so called miracles of modern medicine have been at all helpfull

Sorry your feelin so down life's tough enough without the extra pressures.
If you are considering trying something more natural than drugs then have a look at my answer post on Getting to know you, and thank you for your kind words the other week they sure did help.
I hope to catch up with an Aboriginal elder from my area who makes bush medicine from plants, saps and other things that have been used for centuries in thier culture and work, I dont know if she will be able to help but it's worth a try.

Lotsa people here HATE what I'm gonna say next...
but MED-FREE is the way to go.
(I know that permanent is out of the question for lots, but at least try to flush yer system)
Haven't had to try it yet (well, kinda  ) but the alternative route should be next on the list for me!

I wish you luck and will share my experience for encouragement. The last time I saw a doctor for CH (which was Dr. Urban from Diamond clinic) was in January of 2003 and the last Meds I took were in April of 2003 which were Lithium, atarax, topomax, bellergal, sinequan and calan (also known as verapamil). The last two years have been BETTER with CH than the previous 8 years, which required two trips to Diamond for a week at a time.
As far as the other stuff you mentioned, I hope you find relief and health. That's all I know!!! Healthful wishes for you!!

Just be careful with alternative medicine. It isn't regulated at all. Maxing out on this stuff can do some damage. Don't spend a lot of money on it and a lot is made on fear of the clinical.
I have had only one out of seven neurologists who would make a pretty good barber rather than a neurosurgeon. The rest are pretty impressive. Just lucky I guess.
Good luck though and you find something that works, I'm happy as hell for ya.

Also thanks for the link Sylvan, I already started reading some of it.
Sandie I've heard of her, a friend of ours read her book and has been doing some kind of cleansing diet for years now. He hasn't had so much as a sniffle for over 3 yrs! Forgot all about it until you mentioned it.
If anyone finds or hears of any other good resources let me know!
You all are so great. I really didn't expect so much encouragement on this. Thanks again.

I agree. You can "OD" on something as simple as water. (messing up your balance of electrolytes). I'm not afraid of the clinical, just tired of it. This has been a long time coming for me, thinking about trying this route. Sam said if I really do get into this "herbal stuff" he will build me a small greenhouse so I can hopefully grow alot of my own herbs. He's a former landscaper and is very knowledgable about that kind of stuff. Probably alot of herbs won't be easy or even possible to grow in a greenhouse, but that's another reason for me to become educated on the subject.

I HEAR you. I too have stared alternative methods last month and am weaning off a lot of meds. For bad attacks I will do the oxygen and meds but because I am episodic maybe that is why I say this. I too suffer very complicated migraines and have been through all kinds of shit for 20 years including 10 years of misdiagnosis and nearly losing my mind. The worst was December last month when they tried me on Topomax. I turned into a literall psychotic suicidal zombie and almost jumped out the window at work. That whole episode scared me so bad I started looking into the alternative route. So far I have have good success. I had two headaches in January ( migraines) one was relieve by Fiorinal and the other by rest alone a first for me. I have been to the osteopath and take homeopathic remedies as well as B2, B vitamins. My diet is very good and I exercise when not in a cluster mode. But my next cluster episode, I am fully prepared to use meds as needed which include verapimil, oxygen, migraine meds and God help me steroids which I hope not too.
