Greg and I both have Toshibas......love them. Mine has the Xbrite screen which is great, Greg's is the large screen one. Lot of adjusters use them because they are fast and hold up well. They use the Toshibas and IBMs.....not so much Dell anymore, the service sucks, and they aren't holding up well. Love ya, T

I bought my 14 year old a Toshiba Satellite A45 last summer.....got a deal too.....$550.00 after rebates. My only complaint is it came with only 256 meg of memory. Planning on fixing that in the near future. She has not wrecked it yet, so it must be a good machine. I have a Gateway....no problems there either, but it did cost much more than the Toshiba. Bill

Don't worry, Jackie. When I bought my laptop back in 2002, I did a lot of research which one to get. And it drove me insane! It was impossible to find two exactly similar laptops in any of the stores I went! Eventually I picked a HP. The same thing happened again this fall when my mum bought hers... She has a Fujitsu-Siemens. She is happy with hers... so far. But I have had problems with mine... I think what you should do is to simply make a list of all the qualities you need in your laptop. Then compare it with the different lapstops. It helps that you already have an eye on a Toshiba. Good luck!

http://www.consumersearch.com/www/computers/budget_laptops/index.html We have one Toshiba that has been exchanged out 4 times, all during extended warranty period. When the warranty expires we will not be getting another Toshiba. Years ago Toshiba was the laptop king..not any more. The dell precision or latitude is very good. The Inspiron is not quite as dependable but much less expensive. None of our Dell's have ever failed us. IBM has some sweet laptops as well.
