Well, I see you people are still around.  I'm 65 and have been led to believe CH's are safe after the age of 60.  Wrong!!!!!!!! Two nights ago bam in the middle of the night and the bastard switched sides from right to left.  Don't know what to do, as 1997 was taking the Imitrex injections, but cannot now because of heart medications I'm on.  Any suggestions will be appreciated

Hello Bob J,

Have you tried oxygen?  I don't know if o2 was known to be such an efficient prevent in '97.

I'm so sorry to hear the beast is back.

Maybe this is just a "going away party" for the beast...hope hope!!

hugs

Yes Renee, I tried oxygen, along with Lithium, prednisone, cafergot and several others---nothing worked except injections and i didn;t use those until high level of severity

What Renee said.  Check out the meds board Bob.  Lots of non-Triptan treatments... both abortive and preventative.

o2 might be the ticket... lots here are finding excellent success with it.

Best,
Wrokk

Ok....I know there is ch family with heart conditions/medications as well.

Can someone with that knowledge offer some input, please, as to what new treatments have come around since 1997?

I'm still hoping it's a "one last stand/going away party" for ya Bob.   Wink

Hang in there!

Hi Bob...I can't use triptans either because of heart/ and high BP issues. Unfortunately the only abort avialable that I'm aware of is the oxygen. Perhaps with the right prevents, oxygen will work. I use verapamil, lithium and Neurontin (gabapentin). I'm also hoping it's his farewell tour for you. Good luck and pain free wishes,  nani

Hi Bob and welcome back. I'm really not sure, but Amerge is a different type of triptan that supposedly reacts differently to the heart and blood flow. They say it can actually be used as a prevent too. Obviously do not take it without thoroughly checking it out, but it may be a possible option. Talk to professionals about it. Maybe someone who is versed in meds can explain it a little better. 02 is probably your best bet though.

Hope you find something to help ya. Vibes.

O2 can be a miracle, but additionally there is an alternative therapy that many of us have found some  relief with - either aborted the cycle, or lessened the severity.  You may want to read more about mushrooms.  There is plenty of information available.  Sorry to have to say welcome back.
