will be heading to Indonesia for relief work in 2 weeks.  He is currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan, a Corporal in the Marine Corps.  I am worried about him. Cry

Just watching all the stories on the news, rips my heart out.  I can't even imagine what it is like actually BEING there.  Only thing I can do right now, is send whatever strength I have to him.  He will be out in 1 yr and 4 months from the service.  It'll be so hard not to see him in person until then (he was just home for Christmas for a little while.  Flew back on Jan. 4)...

He'll be okay, Melissa. Stay strong and try not to worry. Today, my company received an order from a customer in Jakarta, Indonesia. Apparently, in much of the country, despite the horrific news reports, it's still "business as usual."

We will keep him in prayer we know our prayer power here works... I would rather my son being there than where he is...I have actually prayed that they would end our time in Iraq and send all of our men to Indonesia and Thailand... I sincerely believe that things happen to bring the human spirit together.  Look how close everyone is during crisis... If we could only have this all the time the world would be wonderful... Love to you Mel and tell him thanks from a very worried mother of 3 that would love to be able to go to help also.  If I was rich I would drop everything and go... but as it is I have to work and raise my dolly... We are presently working on a fund raiser though and doing what we can among all of the child care providers. Ree

Thank you Ree.  I suppose I am being selfish, especially when there are family members like yourself who have loved ones in Iraq.  I thank your boys also, and pray for their safety.  I send strength for you also, for I know it probably has to be extremely nervewracking not knowing from day to day if your kids will be ok.  I know it's what they choose to do, but it's still hard on a family.

love to you,

hug hug hug I know what you mean, Mel.

this whole tsunami thing depresses me... ive been in a funk since it happened.  I cannot imagine.

kinda like 9/11 - i was in a funk for a while after that too.

I cannot imagine 155,000 people - just gone .... that's like the whole city i live next to - just gone.

Your brother-in-law has one of the hardest jobs - physically and emotionally coming up -  I couldn't do it.   I'm just glad there are people like Ree's sons and your brother-in-law who WILL do it.

Respect to them all!

Thank you so much Andrea!  I do appreciate the hugs as you know...Wink

Tina, you seem to understand just how I feel.  It's almost a sort of emptyness, that will take time to heal.  I just worry about Mike (my bro-in-law, he's only 20) coping with seeing all the homeless people, especially the children.  I am sure that there will still be bodies being recovered in the next month, you just don't "clean up" everything in a week, as we're finding out.  Seeing so many people displaced, old and young, plus grieving, is too much to bear for some.

Thanks so much you guys, I really do appreciate you listening to me worry.

hugs,
mel

Mel hun,

Your worry is normal.  He's where he needs to be right now and all the love and support of everyone will sustain not only him while there doing what needs to be done, but you and the rest of his family.  Try to rest sound knowing there are people who's lives he and many other of our brave men and women are making more secure.

Love to you Mel.
