Hello fellow headcases. WTF is this. I have had this for years. I get popping sounds in my head. I suffer migraines and clusters. Usually the popping is behind my ear. I could go on and on with the strange things that happen to me from all this y'all know.

I get that sometimes. Kind of a gristly pop too. I also get massive loud pops in my jaw from TMJ. My old Doc said the popping in and behind the ear is probably related. Ever been checked for TMJ? It is a fun jaw disorder that, if you already have headaches, this makes them worse. Peace, Carl D

I get popping noises in my ears just as I am about to fall asleep. Sometimes it has kept me awake throughout the night. It was driving me batty. It would only happen as I was about to give way to sleep. I went to see a sleep disorder Doc and he said it was Hypnic Jerks...they can also be audable by what I have found on the internet. The doc gave me .50mg of clonozapam to take before I sleep and it fixed it right up. It's weird though because I stay over at my friend's houses a lot during the weekend and I only hear it once or twice without taking my meds. But, when I sleep at my house it's like freaking popcorn going off. I don't know of my waffling will help you any.

I was falling asleep one night and was on that borderland stage between sleep and wakefulness. It sounded like someone had discharged a shotgun in the room! My wife was sleeping peacefully. Whatever it was, it scared the FIRE outta' me!!

Clicking, buzzing and occasional popping in the ears from TMJ. It can get worse when I am in cycle - clenching the jaw from a K8 aggravates the misalignment. The tinnitis gets noticeably louder when I clench my jaw. Not sure if that is what you have. Some people with trigeminal neuralgia report popping and clicking noises that are neurological, not mechanical. Given the inflammation of the trigeminal nerve with cluster headaches, that is another possibility.
