I am planning a trip to Boston next October and just was thinking about it and that is when I go into cycle. Can you take O2 on planes? Does it have to be in the luggage compartment or can I have it on the plane with me?

Check the carrier website. I would think, as it is an oxidizer you wouldn't. Pre authorization maybe. Doctors note probably. Hope ya can.

I decided not to get it when I went on my honeymoon...just got a letter to state i needed to carry syringes

I can tell you don't worry much. I'm on an aircraft once a week. I have never seen anyone sucking on O2 but there are people with serious lung disorders that can't leave home without so I assume you will be OK. You probably need a medical necessity note and getting through security could be a ballbuster.
I've been hit on an aircraft. The heads stink, are cramped and the plane bumps around when trying to slam a trex shot. I can think of better places to get hit but it's not a trigger for me.
Check with the airlines.

There is no chance of getting your o2 on a plane.
I take syringes and vials in my carryon all the time. I never have a letter to back them up. Never have they even been questioned.
Has anyones syringes/vials been questioned?

From personal experience, airlines will NOT allow you to take O2 on a plane, but they are required to provide it to you if you request it. Some charge for it, some do not. Since visiting my wife's family means traveling 6,000 miles on a plane, O2 is very important and as long as I request it well in advance, they always have it available to me. I does require a note from your doc...
A word of caution, again from personal experience: the sudden change in altitude and presure of flying usually sets me up with a really, really bad hit.

I survived flight from Oslo-Copenhagen-Dulles-Nashville and back this summer,so i guess you will to.To be without my ciggies was a lot harder then denied my oxygen
