So the overall concensus is, if one isn't a member of the "Old Guard," then they have no right to participate here, and should just STFU? And if one is a relative newbie here, then it's okay for one of the "Old Guard" to launch a personal attack, and the person being attacked has no right to speak up or defend themselves? And the fact that other CH sufferers are finding CH.com is something negative or threatening to this clique of old-timers?

You would think that people HERE, of all places, would have a little thicker skin. It's not about lurkers or old timers or newbies or anything like that. And it's not about feeling 'safe' or any feel-good bullshit either. This is clusterville and sometimes a clusterhead can be cranky or (gasp) offensive. Sometimes they post a LOT and sometimes they don't. People get their panties all twisted up trying to extract an apology or whatever... it's just not necessary. Clusterheads will always be like this. JUST BE YOURSELF. If someone gets upset, then let them be upset. We aren't trying to have a campfire singalong, we're here sharing our lives with the only people in the world who MIGHT understand us. That doesn't mean everyone will understand everybody. Hell, I only started understanding kim a year ago, and that scares the hell out of me.
Frank, you are a valued asset to this board. You could chill a bit on this one... jeez, Chris was just being a tiny bit nostalgic, not trying to create a divide between old-timers and newer people. There shouldn't be any problem with that. If anything, it sounded to me like he was being sympathetic to your problem, saying that eventually a lot of people end up as lurkers because of skirmishes like this one. Let it go. Start posting poetry again and let it go. Have a little note by your computer to remind you you are NOT talking to normal people. Maybe that will soften the blow when someone gets cranky?
