Too much weight loss/not good/ need ideas

Okay family,
I am losing way too much weight. I shouldn't complain I know, but now it's at the point where I'm worried. Ive lost around 40+ lbs since the beginning of this year without trying. The first 30 or so were okay....the last 10 not and got on the scale last night and I've dropped another two. My docs are concerned and watching and I'm reluctantly trying Lexapro to see if it will jumpstart chemistry to help...it's not helping.

I'm largely just not hungry. I wake up every day nauseous without an appetite and I eat because I know I should.

I do run almost dailySmiley and I sleep like crapSad.

meds? CH? other HA? Anxiety? Depression? Something else entirely I'm missing? I just don't know.

 can you help?
Ask questions, give advice ....anything....

Thanks,
lionsound

You could eat lots of small snacks instead of trying to eat alot in one sitting.  hope your appetite returns.

I don't know sweetie. I have never had that problem. I'm guessing it's not CH or other HA. But it certainly could be meds or depression. It sounds more like meds with the morning nausea. Maybe youu should cut back on running and just take a slow easy walk. Burning less calories will probably help a little. You could just adopt my lifestyle and that 40 lbs would be back in a week. Wink
Lots of chocolate, fatty foods and only get off the couch for an emergency. Wink I hope you get some answers, soon.

Hello, my lionhearted friend. Have you considered beginning a weight training program? Purchase the book, "Body For Life." (I think even Walmart carries it now, as well as just about ANY bookstore) It combines cardio training with weight training, and covers proper nutrition, meals, rest, and everything. With this, you will be able to counteract any muscle wasting, but still be able to burn fat, increase bone density, and build muscle. (Don't worry: You won't bulk up on this program, and womens' bodies aren't geared for bulky muscle gain) Good luck!

During my last cluster cycle (which lasted 4 months due largely, I believe, to the Depakote I was taking) I lost a total of 40 pounds.  I completely lost my appetite.  Also, a new thing I never experienced with clusters before was that eating at all would bring on a cluster.  So I forced myself to eat, but ate as suggested above numerous small meals or snacks a day.  I still got the nausea, but not bad.  My cycle has been over about a month now and I still don't have an appetite.  My doctor is also clueless.

Now I can have regular meals as I don't get nauseas, but I eat because I know I have to.  Appetite is virtually non-existant to me.

I also do as Jeepgun suggested.  I'm on the treadmill and lift weights 3-4 times a week, and try to rest when I know I should.  If I don't do this, I easily lose 2-5 pounds per week.  Doing it this way, I haven't lost anymore.

Not much help here I know, but at least I can relate.

Best wishes,
Langa

Just had a thought...are you taking Topamax? I think extreme weight loss is one of the side effects.

I don't know the side effects of the drugs you are on.  I actually lost 10 lbs with Lexapro.  I think everyone is different.  Franks idea was good.  How about protein shakes - they can help gain weight.  I will think about it some more and let you know if I come up with anything.

That's one other aspect of Body For Life: Six small meals a day, with three of those being protein shakes.

Thanks so much! You all are so kind.

I didn't know that there could be wieght loss with lexapro, I did know that about dopemax which is why I'm holding off on taking it. (Just put in a call to the doc about getting off the lexapro.)

Since everyone seems to think Frank's idea is a good one...I think I'll be a lemming and go with that.  Wink

Oh, and Langa, you post IS very helpful. Nice to know I'm not the only one. Smiley
