Well...
For lack of anyone else to talk to right now about it (directly that is) here is the latest.
Got a call from my mom Tues. morning saying that my Grandma has turned for the worse (congestive heart failure) I called work and left town Immediately for Davenport to see her. Needless to say things are not good. Its really hard to see her suffer needlessly (lingering) if there is a God....please have mercy on a kind gentle old woman who has done everything for everyone and nothing for herself and take her soon...she deserves to be at peace.
I am ok with things...but other than my daughter I am the last of the blood line. She has a DNR order should she exasperate but she is tired, ready (self proclaimed) and needs final peace. We have all been to see her and there is no more reason for her to remain.

PLEASE GOD....end her suffering Cry Cry Cry

You are in a hard spot.  You are taught as a youngster to always pray for someone to get better.  Unfortunately, there are times when you have to pray for that person to die.  It was VERY hard on me the first time I had to do it.  It was for my grandmother, too.  By that time, she had shrunk from her rotund, bairly able to get your arms around her, to a skeleton with skin hanging from it.  Her mind was totally gone.  In my mind, that was not my grandmother.  That was the shell she used to live in.  But it was still hard to go against all the training I got in Sunday school, and pray for her to die.

Since then, unfortunately, I have had to do it three other times.  It is hard each time.

One thing I always did, was that I told the person that it was ok to let go.  They don't have to fight anymore.  Relax and let go.  The family is all doing fine, and she does not have to worry anymore.  Let go.  It is time.

It seems they sometimes need to hear that it is ok to stop fighting, and let go.

My heart and prayers go to you and your family.  And I pray that her suffering is short.

Ramon, Chuck is right and I echo what he said.  I too had to do the same thing, only it was for my Mom.  She then passed 3 days later.  It was a blessing, especially since it was in her sleep instead of the cancer taking her while she was awake.  I hope for your Grandmother to find peace.

I'm so sorry, Ramon. I volunteer with hospice, and yeah, letting the ailing person know that it's okay to move on is often, the hardest (and yet, most relieving) part of things.

hug Strength, love, and peace to you, my friend.

Many people try to cling to their loved ones without realizing that their selfish desire to keep them around causes both the loved one and themselves more pain.

You have my prayers for strength and comfort.

She is suffering folks....Doped up on Morphine real good, but struggling just to keep breathing. It needs to end, not just for her but for the rest of us as well.

Haven't gotten the final call yet...
I don't want my granma to hurt anymore...if you believe in God Please do my family a favor and pray for a speedy and comfortable passing....I'm begging now.
I'm getting tired of jumping when the phone rings.

My 34 yo sister has terminal cancer of the liver.  She's literally wasting away before my eyes.  I know the time will come, my only prayer is that it is quick.

May the powers take her gently, and carry her on soft light to her rest Ramon.  Peace will be hers.

Morphine depresses the respiratory system, so this may be why she is having additional difficulty with breathing, Ramon. In any case, may her passing be without difficulty and with dignity and grace. Keeping you and Tina in my prayers, my friend.  hug
