/rant mode ON: Good grief... I was just stuck behind this jerk in a truck, in the middle of town, with several traffic lights, who was driving a manual transmission, with his cellphone glued to his left ear. He kept letting go of the steering wheel to shift, and either weaving into oncoming traffic in the other lane, or nearly sideswiping the cars on his right. I honked my horn at him to warn him, but he was totally oblivious. WTF is the matter with people?? Cellphones: WORST new invention. EVER! /rant mode OFF

I feel the same as you Jeep......I find myself wanting to stop and beat the shit outa these people with there own phone........oh my,the violence.....sorry. Was drivein down our back road to town the other day and noticed a car goin really slow so it looked......geeze zus.......the guy was stopped dead in the road talkin on his cell phone not even knowing 'I think' he was stopped !!!! He never even noticed me pass him what so ever. Got behind someone else that kept speeding up and slowing down.....on the phone of course. Seems the more intense the conversation the slower she went. Too bad there isn't a device to have in YER vehicle to be able to cut into a close cell phone and GIVE EM HELL. It's gettin worse with these phones deal cuz every dam time I go anywhere I have to deal with someone doin somethin DUMB with phone in there ear. Some dumbass pulled into the gas station and was waitin to use the pump....he was talkin when he stepped out of the vehicle....talked all dureing gassin up......talked while walkin in to pay......continued to talk while in line real fuckin loud and still on the phone when he paid and walked out and got into his vehicle. Was still talkin when he pulled out goin down the road. I hate it even more when people talk LOUD on them dam things when standing in line to pay for groceries whatever as if that isn't miserable enuff. Gonna choke someone soon mode Pam I feel better now till the NEXT time.................we need a cell phone bandit super hero to stop the maddness !!!! Shows up out of nowhere to save the day and steal the phones of stupid people usein em badly. Hmmmm....what would a cell phone bandit look like ?????

He might look like a real angry-lookin' guy in a white Jeep, with military-cut hair and .50 caliber machine guns that rotate out of the fenders at the flick of a switch.

Dial 911. Describe the vehicle and give the plate number. Tell them he is crossing lanes and weaving and creating a dangerous situation. Then tell them it looks like he may be drinking. Cell phone? Bottle? cell phone? bottle? Who could be really tell if your behind them.

| But you'll only be on the phone about a minute or two tops. Then you just follow along and wait for the show to begin.

Cathi, you're probably right: People do the dumbest things and if they aren't paying attention to their driving because they are distracted by their cellphone, if they DIDN'T have their cellphone, it would be something else. Too bad Darwin is such a slacker... LOL I'm thinking about getting one of those bumper stickers, Ree. Seriously.

First my opinion on cell phones. I think anyone and every one that even owns a cell phone should be killed. That out of the way....... Just wondering. With all this ranting about cell phones I have to ask.......... How many of you right now, sitting at your computer, whether at home or at work, have a regular telephone within arms reach? And your cell phone is next to it and turned on? P.S. yes I have a cell phone. Verizon. The number is 286-1884. But if you call I will not be answering. The phone is lost somewhere under the seat of my truck and turned off and probably has a dead battery.

Wow! You guys can drive without talking on the cell phone?? I can't! First thing i do when i sit in my car is put on my headset and dial someone. Sometimes commute time is the only chance i get to talk to friends and family. BTW - i actually have 2 - 1 Sprint PCS & 1 Verizon. (Hmmm .... maybe the 0.600mW microwave transmitter in my cell phone(s) is causing the CH's? .... nah .... )

Here in NY, you can only use a cellphone with a headset. It's illegal to use the hand phone. Think it makes a difference? NO! I see at least 10 people everyday using their handset. If I see someone driving badly up ahead I can predict with 99% accuracy that they are on the phone. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY!
