Last night about 1 am, as I sat rocking holding my head unable to see from my right eye, knowing that the pain would get worse soon, and I would be up walking and ranting, praying for the pain to end. A single thought came to mind it was from this board, the topic what a CH looks like, and I saw clearly and wish I was an artist so I could show you all what a CH looks like. What I saw was a small boy sitting in the floor holding his head and crying all alone the room that the boy sat in was huge dark and ominous. Behind the boy stood a huge menacing monster, red eyes a mouth full of sharp pointy teeth with black and brown long hair covering his entire body. The monster hand one hand out-stretched holding his hand above the boy, not to grab him but from his finger were strings attached to the boy so he could control him like a puppet, the boy know the monster was there and there was nothing he could do except wait for the control to begin and the nightmare to be over. That is what a CH looks like. Undecided

Johnny, you manage your pain well, at 10 i could not even begin to take a pic of myself and get pale diaphoretic and would throw the camera for even thinking of looking at me. You look like a bro i got in New albany Ind, who is a nurse.
And to you lionsound, the only thing I can draw is flys...

Cry  OMG.  That just breaks my heart, both of you.  I am not joking.  I can't stand to think of anyone going through this hell.  I can see the pain in your eyes, Jonny.  In the first picture they are sparkling and happy and the second they are almost just dead looking.  The drawing is dead on but needs to extend down into the teeth and ear and that is exactly what I feel like when I am hit.  Why?  Thank God for this board.

I agree with the teeth thing, but there also needs to be one of those huge spikes rammed up through the nostril, threw the eyeball, all the way back to the skull and trying to drill it's way out.

What a life.
Friday night I hit a 3 on my scale:
1: Oh Shit
2: Oh Fuk
3: Oh I am Fuked
then ran out of 02!

serious hangover saturday, then at 11:10 my elderly mother called in distress. made 75 miles in 50 minutes (run Happy, mad man on the road!)

I expect my next cycle to hit in February. I think I'll do the Before/After photo thing, too. (Meanwhile, hoping against all hope that I won't have a cycle at all; that somehow, I'll escape...)  Sad

Seeing so many of you witnessed me getting hit (much to my chagrin) I figured I might as well add my "before and after" pictures too:

A good looking stud

A scarey looking bastard:

Damn that is an ugly picture!

You know.......after 27 years of this shit I still find it difficult to look at those pics. Do normal people see the pain, anguish, and desperation I wonder?

Oddly, or maybe not, I had the most difficulty viewing Jonnys pics. BOTH of them.  Cool

Johnny, Why are you smiling in the 1st pic -  I mean, we're only seeing from the shoulders up?  The 2nd pic can either be explained by a CH or a recently crushed testacle so no need to elaborate on that one...

same here, Don.  For me, it's only 18 years of living with clusters but I will NEVER get used to seeing that pain on the face of people I care about.  It's SO not fair.  That look in Jonny's eyes just kills me.  I've seen that same look on Mike's face, so many times.   Cry

Don.Normal..well, I'm not certain, but as a non-sufferer, I assure you, I see the agony quite clearly-I look into the eyes, and cannot, in my wildest dreams, understand how a human can relive this over and over and over again.
Someone once told me he doesnt anticipate the hits, rather he focuses on the pain-free time......

What an amazing group of people........what a horrendous pain......

I can't speak to still photos Don, but I can attest to the power and profound affect of a hit on video. While at Mclean hospital, the administrator, Dept head [Dr. Pope] and Drs. Halpern and Sewell were spell-bound watching the video of Chuck's hit. Afterward, it took a few minutes before anyone sitting in that board room could even speak.
Peace,

All these pics are makeing my heart break.  I don't have any pictures, but I can attest that at least "sometimes" the average person can see it.

Example.

I work late on Thursdays, so depending on my Friday sched. I either come to the office at 9am or Noon.  This particular day I came in at noon, and the Pres. had called a meeting earlier that morning.  Since I wasn't in my supervisor took me aside once I was there to fill me in on the munites of the meeting.  About 15 minutes into the briefing she looked up from my papers and asked if I was getting hit.  She could see it happening. Right before her eyes she could see the changes in my face. I wasn't even in pain yet, but I knew it was comming. Her discription is it is like the left side of my face begins to slowly 'melt".
