Think this will buff out? **again**

'84 Volvo DL Meets huge deer in road. Car lost, deer lost, passengers won. The car is built like a tank, it did a lot of damage but we barely felt the impact. When I finally got to a safe place to pull over I had to shut down the engine. It was leaking antifreeze but seemed to be OK.

I then tried to call AAA and after may attempts decided to catch a ride home. Nothing worse than being stuck on the side of the road with a child if you don't have too.  I couldn't believe all the people who stopped to help.

Later My brother and I went to clean out the car, I was going to have it towed in the morning. When I got to it I decided to try and start it, when it started, I took off yelling "follow me". The only problem I had on the 5 mile trip home was that the headlights were pointing at crazy angles. It didn't even overheat despite the radiator stopping the fan from turning.

The real miracle was that before I hit the deer I saw two vehicles that were in from of me pull off the road. They turn out to be my brother in the car he just bought, and his friend in my mothers car. If either car had hit the deer someone would have probably gotten hurt.

Doesn't look like I can fix it which is a shame as the car only has 237K on it.

Glad you're ok.

That can be fixed but will be expensive. I think a car from '84 isnt worth it anymore.

Too bad you damaged the car and killed a deer the hard way, but it is good you are ok.. Deer can crash thru the windshield...

Now IF you want to that damage isn't all that bad.. I know it looks nasty but it really isn't.. Of course what the costs are will depend on if yhou are any sort of a wrench. Only common tools and parts are needed and the 2 welds at the fender to valance can be cut and bolted or re-welded at a later date.

What I can't see is the engine, but they run pretty well and 5 miles for that engine with no coolant won't bother it. Might be the water pump got trashed, the raditaor, for sure the hood, and fender.. There was a fender change made for the 86, and the books have that change as 85, so take care to get the right fender...

The AC is toasted and will likely stay that way as R-12 is 3 bucks a can with a $300.oo hazmat fee.... If you really need AC then maybe it is time to sell off the rest...

I can't see the driver side left fender to tell if it is mashed.. maybe it is and maybe it isn't.

The valance pan behind the bumper is bent, but fixable and who care so long as stuff more or less lines up. The bumper cover has been pulled out of place.. No big deal there...

Now if the rest of the car is rusted baddly dump it, but if the rocker panels are dandy you could keep it...

It might be possible to even find a car with good parts where you need em the same color and so no painting needs to be done...

Might wanna look here and see Volvo Repair

Thanks all,
Wish I could buy another car, looks like I will have to fix up that '83 K-car that is sitting for free on my front lawn. I am still trying to get the hood open so I can get the battery out. I don't have a cutting torch. The engine should be fine as the radiator didn't leak, only the coolant tank did. This will be way to expensive for me to fix. I paid $100 for the car and don't have that now to buy another. Also if I could get my head cut off maybe I could get some work done today LOL.

((((((((((((Paul))))))))))))))))  So glad that you guys are ok.  Holy crap though, even you might not be able to fix up that mess.   You're good, but that looks like one tough project.  Bet Jonny could make it a shiney lawn ornament though !

Got a skill saw?.......or borrow one.......buy a metal cutting blade and run the fucker across the hood up close to the hinges, hood looks high enough so as not to damage to anything underneath it.

Its just a thought....Oh!. and wear some saftey glasses, eye surgery is not all its cracked upped to be....BTDT twice Cool
