As a result of my visit to the doctors today (see off to the doctors) I came up with the idea of everyone sending a postcard to my surgery saying "I am a cluster headache sufferer of 'x' years and I want you to read the literature on this condition" or something similar. After all I reasoned, if one of you gets a bad reception from medics, an agency or whatever, I'd be happy to send them a postcard. It's low cost and if we got loads of them with the same message arriving together then we have a marketing impact. Sitting here, it occured to me that this approach could work for say targeting health department officials, drugs companies, politicians and the media. I would like to throw this idea up in the air for discussion and consideration by the site administration. My one additional suggestion would be whatever we decide on this, if it is a go situation it should be well organised, targeted and co-ordinated. hell, I'll send a postcard a week to any target thrown up for that week!

just want to add having looked at this again. If, using American currency we said that a stamp, a postcard, even for an overseas address is gonna cost $1, I believe we have a membership of 7250 so if you could mobilise 20% of that on a weekly basis for a year that would mean we would have an effective marketing budget working for us to the tune of
7250 x 20% = 1450 x 52 = $75,400 per annum

How about applying that marketing budget to groundbreaking research which is ramping up right now at Harvard?
May not need those postcards once an effective, safe treatment is avail.
Then again, you may want to send those postcard out to all of the newly pain free folks who would benefit from such a budget.
