Was just wondering if anybody else, after having ch gets the yawns real bad. I have been chronic for 8 years and afterwards I have always had a case of intense yawning, like my body is really trying to relax itself. Have never seen anything posted about this, was just curious. Thanks Chris

I'm chronic and do not see a relationship between CH and yawns personally.

I sometimes get the yawns, but don't know that it is more than the average person, and its never been linked to my clusters AFAIK. Could be from disrupted circadian cycles or a malfunctioning autonomic nervous system - both are included as standard features in the CH package (no additional charge).

One theory regarding yawning is that it is triggered by low oxygen in the lungs. One theory on CH is that it is triggered by low oxygen saturation in the blood. Thus seeing them in close proximity would not surprise me, though I personally have not noticed any link.

I get those nonstopping yawns sometimes (not after a CH that I've noticed) and when I was a kid I heard that a yawn means your brain is short on O2 and a yawn gets more O2 into your body? ALways wondered if this was an ol' wives tale or not. Sorry totally didnt help your question

you double poster! We don't actually know why we yawn, it's amazing to me how much stuff we don't understand about our own bodies.

I know of one thing that triggers me into yawning. When I hear someone talking about yawning. Thanks a lot. Now everybody I work with thinks I either stayed up to late last night or I'm bored with them.

I think another reason why we yawn is to clear the eustacian tubes and to stretch the muscles in the neck and jaw. I know that when I'm having a CH, the muscles in the back of my neck knot up something fierce! I always feel that if I could crack my neck a certain way, that the pressure/tension/pain in my eye would instantly dissolve. Unfortunately, it never works out that way. Maybe next time, I'll think about cracking my neck in a more permanent way. Where's Lizzie Borden when you need her?

I always get the yawns when my CH is about to end. It is so regular that I welcome them as "it's almost over now." The same holds true when I poke myself with trex. I'll do a shot of trex and almost immediately get the yawns. I sometimes get them to a lesser extent when I abort with o2. I also get them big time when I use the alternative treatment. BTW, I'm chronic working on becoming episodic. .....................alley

My guess is you're tired as hell from staying up all night with the Beast. Man i'm tired. Gonna go take a nap. Oops, can't do that, the Beast will show back up. Guess I'll just yawn some more.

I'm with Alleyoop on this one. I frequently let out the big yawn after the attack wanes... and a big sigh. Then I know it's gone and it's safe to go back in the water.
