Think of all the underwear we'd have to change if the dems were deliberately mis-aligned!

To the best of my knowledge Mel this is a bona-fide, official ballot to be presented in Ohio. Most radio station hosts (worth their salt) will have a post of it. Check out Glen Beck, or Neil Boortz (boortz.com) where I got this one. I'm sure the entrenched media ABCNBCCBS will give it a pass but since I don't watch any TV, please inform if they do.

You could get hysterical, or you could get informed. http://www.ohio.com/mld/beaconjournal/news/state/9971498.htm?1c The ballot works correctly when inserted into a voting machine. It could be confusing if someone tries to poke the chad out without a voting machine. Given the fact that the source is Neal Boortz, I guess hysteria was the desired reaction. This sounds more like the incompetence that led to thousands of ballots in Duval County Florida being 'no vote' because people in African American districts followed the directions to the letter and voted for one candidate on each page - including 2 presidential candiates (one on each page). Or the recent absentee ballots sent out (forget exactly where) that don't include the Democratic candidate for senate. Are these all proof of a sinister conspiracy by 'Them' - or does it just mean that there is a lot of shallow thinkers in county governments? Quote: ... The punch cards and arrows are designed to work with machines used by people who vote in person on Election Day, she said. "When the ballots are placed in the machines, the numbers line up with the arrows," she said, sliding a sample ballot into a machine similar to the ones that will be used Nov. 2 to show how it lined up correctly. The instructions tell absentee voters to punch the corresponding number but don't specifically say to disregard the arrows. ... . |

Ohhh, I see Floridian, I did not know that was for a voting machine. My mom used to use some sort of machine for voting when we lived in my hometown city of about 35,000 people, but out here where I live now we use paper ballots where you have to fill in the circle with pencil of who you want to vote for. I don't know if that'll be different this year or not, since we are in an unincorporated town...?? Perhaps I can find out on our government website. mel edited to add that I found out why I never had to register to vote out here where I live...because my municipality (sp?) doesn't require it. All we need is a picture ID and the election people record our name and address down. As for HOW we are going to vote, I have no clue. I suppose it'll be the same again like in years past.

| Mis-aligned? What mis-aligned? I don't see any problem with the ballot. All I see is that the democrates have finally learned some tricks from the rebulicrooks.

I sure do hope Floridian is accurate---heck, even if my candidate (who stands no chance) was to lose I'd like it be a loss fair and square. Perhaps this is a prod to motivate the base but hey, what fun!

It lines up in a machine but right now it's messing with the absentee ballots: "The absentee voting problem in Cuyahoga County occurs when voters align the ballot portion, which shows a candidate's name, a number and an arrow, with the punch card, which also bears numbers. The pieces are designed to align in the voting machines used on Election Day, but the numbers don't always line up for people voting absentee. The elections board in the traditionally Democratic county has fielded numerous calls from voters confused about the layout of absentee ballots. The county, which includes Cleveland , is receiving more than 2,000 requests for absentee ballots every day. Both presidential campaigns have focused on the county in a state both candidates consider crucial to what's expected to be a close election Nov. 2."

| They are called Automatic Voting Machines and they were made right here in Jamestown. They are harder that hell to screw up too. Mechanical, not electronic. We still use the things. All our school elections still use them too. It's was fun for kids. Only place you can get parts for them is probably here. Messy ballots, iffy elections? I'm stunned! I wonder if they still vote alphabetically in Texas? It was handy when they padded the ballots from cemetary lists. Charlie
