Whats to much trex? Damn thats a hard one to answer dont even think the neuroes knows the answer on that or Glaxo. Glaxo says 2/24 hours. They are just afraid of the lawyers some neyroes says 4,some say 6,and some say 8 shots a day. We have even a neuro professor here in Norway that told me he has a clusterpatient that he give 14 shots a day so who knows what the top doze is for 24 hours? I use up to 8/24 hours for mnths,no sideeffects as far as i know. Most of you know that i had a heartattack back in 2001 i say it again. That heartattack was familyrelated. The docs are 100% sure about that. The difference between HEARTPAIN and CHESTPAIN is significent. Most of the sideeffect of imitrex called chestpain is musclecontraction, and NO DAnger i DO NOT say that you should not check the chestpain if you feel that, but i am trying to say that the difference between the 2 of them pain are pretty significent. Hope this makes any sence for you all. Any opinions on the subject? Svenn

Hey Svenn, I get exacly what your saying, I guess the answer is a very difficult delhema for both Doctor and Patient. For me. 1 dose is too much as I have very severe Angina each time, having had 4 heart attacks in 2000 I feel the pain for me is identical, However if it gave me no relief(Stopped the attack) 2 would be too many. If it aborts the attack completely them I guess there is no limit in actuality. Suffering 7 to 15 attacks a day I cant imagine poking myself with a shot each time unless the relief is there too! Pappy Also, I have heard a lot of stories of Heart related issues from the Triptans. Maybe MayoClinid.com would have an opinion??

I think one of the big issues is that (like has been said many times) Tripans in general have been tested and ok'ed by the FDA for "Migraine" treatment. Now any med can be prescribed by a doctor for other treatments besides that which the FDA has originally approved a medication for. (ie the use of anti-seazure meds for CH) but that does not mean that the FDA has tested it and seen the benefits, side-effects and / or overdose effects of a medication for other conditions. My doc told me that no "migraine" sufferer needs more then 2 tabs, NS, or shots of Imitrex in a 24 hour period - nor does a "migraine" sufferer need more then a total of 6 tabs, NS or shots of Imitrex in a 30 day period. If they need more then 2 a day or 6 a month then they are not suffering from "migraines". BINGO WE HAVE A WINNER.... Talking about what the FDA states as a treatment for CH, then we can not use the 2 a day formula as we are not suffering from "migraines".... Isn't that a marvel idea????

IMHO If you need "too much Trex" you need to try 02 if you haven't already, or get a decent prevent, or risk dying. Just what I think W

| ONLY 2 things is certains in life as far as i know.thats you get birth and you die.what you do between those is pretty much your task. not afraid for the last.sometimes that is a relieff of all the pain i have to admit. The word death seems to be a taboo word for a major part of us,cant undestand why though because thats the only thing that is guaranteed in life beside birth. i know its a toutchy subject ,thats why i write this.somehow im in mood for provocating now at 0320 at night after a visit from "General Cluster" Take care amigos Svenn

| I was thinking the same thing Dan when I read your thread from this morning. Don't do that. I've done three in an eight hour day at work many times, usually two. I got the NS so I'm used to the span of time before it subsides, but with 'jectable ten minutes should do it. I've never taken a second for the same hit though. Kinda stick to that. Too scary a feeling. Hope it don't happen again. Kevin M
