I was very surprised that the issue of $2/gal gas and $55/barrel oil did NOT come up in any of the debates.

California has to pay a higher price due not only to higher taxes than others, but also due to a different formulation that is supposed to be more environmentally friendly. The formulation required and the expense of dealing with the environmental regulation is what fuels their pricing. The only ones saying we were going to Iraq for oil were the ones opposing President Bush. He never said we were after their oil, infact we have not done anything to profit from their oil. I think we should. The strike and the unrest in Nigeria is causing a greater deal of trouble with the oil prices than is Iraq. They produce a much more significant amount of oil than does Iraq, and much of it comes to the US. Four huricanes hitting Florida has also put a large dent into our own production in the gulf and the ability to refine it. Several refineries have been severely curtailed in the Caribean. Paying $2.24 a gallon for diesel for my truck is really cutting into my profit margins. Unfortunately, there is not much that either Kerry or Bush can do for us there. To bad we can't harness the hot air coming from the campaigns! Talk about a cheap source of energy! jc

Called my daughter in Spain on Saturday. She said it was cold and she had to ask for 3 extra blankets and sleep in a sweatshirt because in Spain they don't turn on the heat until December. Americans are a bunch of wasteful whiners!

I am happy enough to not have to pay $4.00/gallon or more. Around here, it's right about $2.00/gallon. Will probably get higher. I suppose that's not good for those of us who drive SUV's or pick- up trucks. Livin' in the good ole USA. Ain't it great?

$2.09 a gallon here and I just purchased a Toyota Corolla last Tuesday (only foreign car hubby will let me buy because they use GM parts, well that, and I've owned 2 in the past and they're AWESOME, hehe) . BTW, I think us Americans are VERY fortunate we have been paying such low gas prices for years. I try to remind hubby that there are others all over the globe paying extremely high prices for petrol... mel

About 1.85 a gallon in central Virginia. Just received 100 of propane delivered at $1.55. I was surprised on how low the propane was in comparison to gasoline. Anyway, guess I'll be looking for a hybrid vehicle soon--can't afford these prices. John

| Now, THAT's a reality check. Compared to the rest of the world, the U.S. has had great prices on fuel for years. Considering inflation, the price of gasoline is not much different than the early 70's. Hell, milk is more expensive but you don't hear people complaining about that. Over $4.00 for a gallon of milk?? WTF, I axe you. And how much does a box of cereal cost? Two things everyone needs to start their day, especially kids, and not much bitching. Things that make me go Hmmmm.... TomM

98 Octane? Wow, that's hi-test. Yeah, I paid almost $4.00/gal for 87 Octane in the Caymans this summer. But then again, everything is expensive in the Caymans.
