Yesterday was the last day to register to vote for the November election. There was a company here in town that hired a third party to file the forms and they destroyed some of the forms, all of which happened to be declared democrats.  Not sure what will come of it... but figured there are lots of people here who can discuss some of the possible possibilities.

And there is a hard-core Republican here that wanted to be sure all voters actually lived in the precinct where they were registered to vote. He went to the County and got a list of all voters and stared checking them.

He claims to have found exactly 17,000 (yeah, thousand) that no longer lived where they the records said they did. They had moved, died, whatever.

All 17,000 were Democrats. According to this nut-case not one Republican had moved or died in the last 4 years. Hhmmm......

Most Democrats in Nevada are migrant workers. In the last election they heard of work opportunities on the island of Florida.

They are still there, still sweeping up chads.

Hi Donna
I haven't seen the news. Has there been some sort of voter problems in the Sunshine State?

So were the 17,000 really no longer living where they were registered and, if so, have they been deleted from the list of registered voters?

Yes they were.

Then they were added to the voting lists in California. But I don't know why California since it is Kerry country already.  Grin

... The same company that is suspected of tearing up Democratic voter registration forms in Las Vegas has set up registration drives in Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Florida and Nevada and is accused of the same things in most if not all of these states.  Sproul & Associates is a Republican consulting firm run by Nathan Sproul, former head of the Arizona Republican party and Arizona Christian Coalition.

Nevada:
Voters Outreach of America AKA America Votes tears up Democratic voter registration forms in Nevada.

Oregon:
Company claiming affiliation with non-partisan 'America Votes' to register voters in Oregon is actually GOP consulting firm Sproul & Associates, Inc.

West Virginia and Pennsylvania:
Sproul & Associates AKA America Votes workers in WV and PA refuse to register Kerry voters.

Oregon
Democrats in Oregon have complained that canvassers for Arizona based Sproul & Associates have been pressuring residents to register as Republicans so that they can get paid.

Arizona
Arizona Nader campaign was assisted in its petition drive by an unlikely figure: the ultra-conservative former executive director of the Arizona Republican Party, Nathan Sproul.

About Sproul:
Good background story on Sproul and his political track record, cached on Google.

The link:
Here is the direct link between Sproul and Voters Outreach of America.

According to several sources, two of the contractors Sproul hired to oversee petition gathering for No Taxpayer Money For Politicians -- Aaron "A.J." James, who directs Voters' Outreach of America, and Diane Burns -- were also paid by Sproul to get as many signatures as possible for Nader.

KLAS-TV, Las Vegas:
"The company has been largely, if not entirely funded, by the Republican National Committee."

CareerBuild.com listing:
Help wanted ad for Voters Outreach of America says "Paid for by the Republican National Committee".

A little more on politics in the Silver State.

George Bush will be in Las Vegas today for an AARP convention. He won't be speaking because his handlers say there are members of the AARP that don't like his drug policies. The handlers say they believe if George were to speak the AARP members would heckle him and may expose him to off-color language.

So....in his place at the speaker's podium will be..........

Laura Bush.

Cause she handles "off-color language" so much better?

Anyway Nader was here yesterday, Kerry will be here today as well and the ever political Michael Moore is speaking at the Thomas and Mac tomorrow. God it is wonderful to be in one of thier "swing" states. It was always nicer to be igored like everyother election year.   Roll Eyes   Yet still not of of these jerks will say anything about Yucca Mountain.  Tongue

So is it really true that Bush has offered free housing to AARP members around Yucca Mountain?  Shocked

Yeah, I heard that Bush has an ear disorder called ovalitis - its very common among executives exposed to sycophants, and the result is selective hearing loss - he can only hear what he wants to hear.

Not sure how he got through the 'town meeting' debate without steamrolling anyone but the moderator.

When I voted in the primaries an elderly couple walked in.  The husband put the wife in a chair.  Asked for both balets.  One for him and one for her.  The lady said "Oh I am suppose to give her the ballat Have her come here." The husband explained that she couldn't walk without assistance and needed the chair.  So the lady was going to take the voting form to her to fill out.  The husband explaims "OH nO!  She has dementia.  She knows nothing of the political race and wouldn't even know who to vote for.  Just give me her card and I will vote for her!"  The people said that didn't sound like the right thing to do but they did it anyway.  The husband voted for both of them.  I called up my assembly man and congressmen and finally got ahold of the correct person and filed a complaint.  They said what happened is illegal and they took down my polling place and said they would talk to the workers there.  I don't care if you are republican, democratic, or other I just want fair voting going on.

Some more politics in Nevada.  Roll Eyes

Today Michael Moore will be giving a speech in Vegas. His theme "George Bush and John Kerry suck. That's why I'm voting for Kerry"

It is scheduled for 9PM at UNLV. It is sponsored by the student council.

9PM on a Friday night on a college campus in Vegas? What a fu*kin' idiot.

How many students will show up? Probably as many as 6.

Michael Moore has to be one of the top 2 of a'holes of the world. He doesn't even attempt to hide how disgusting fat, sloppy and ugly he is. Not to mention his hatred for America (except for his American paycheck).

I'm ashamed that UNLV is in Vegas.
