I just gave birth to a ten-pound brown baby, and boy, was that little fucker ever GROUCHY! I had no choice but to pull the flush handle. (and use lots of deoderizing spray)  That little bastard was like having a 250 lb jailhouse dude named Norm, who isn't a gentle lover. Come to think of it, maybe I need more fiber in my diet....  laugh

Have to agree.  Child birth was nothing, and that is saying a lot.  Have a 7 yr old who put me through 4 months of labor that they kept stopping with bed rest and then 20 hours of labor (a week after my due date) with 5 hours of hard labor.  Also have a 2 yr old.

Childbirth has an end to it that is worth what you go though. There is NO reward for having CH and there is no end in sight for some of us, especially those of us that are chronic.

i gave birth to twins 1 1/2 hours apart due to complications and was in hard labor the whole time.  I was in hard labor 14 hours straight.  It was hell but I would take it over a cluster headache any day.

I have a 4 year old and a 3 year old -  I would have 15 more if I could get rid of the headaches - there is absolutely no comparison.  Childbirth is something the body is supposed to do and there is a reward and an END to it.  CH's are extremely painful and not natural - I hate them.  It's not a pain that can be described to other people.

2 kids - 2 long (15 hr) labors.  CH is MUCH worse. The only plus is you don't have to change any smelly diapers, but you still can't sleep during the night... Sad

i am chronic, have been for over 4 years now and my longest break in that whole time has been one month when i was on heavy narcotics(codine). so i can totally relate...except for the child birthing part.
vet brought up another topic i was gonna post but i thought it might be to insensitive... how does chs compare to losing a limb in an accident once you figure in shock, trauma, loss of blood, ect... im just trying to figure out if my complaining about the pain is justified... or if im just a big baby. LOL! ----Nathan

You're a big baby!!
Out of the 4660 people listed on the board you are absolutely the first to complain about the pain.
Suck it up!..........Just kidding.

I am actually very surprised by the responses from the female CH contingent. I have always heard that it is the most pain (giving birth) that one would be glad to do over and over because of the gift that is given yet to hear that CH is even more painful (not because of the outcome or lack there of but just intensity) blows me away.

I give some extra support for those blessed with a uterus and a screwed up hypothingy   :)

i didnt mean i thought i was bieng a big baby among everyone here, i know everyone here can relate to my pain, otherwise you wouldnt be here! i was refering to my wife and other people around me that think a cluster is just a headache (partly my fault cause i refuse to call them migranes) and say it cant be that bad, nothing is as bad as childbirth, ect. ive always been under the assumption that women had a higher pain threshold because they are the bearer of children so to hear so many of them here say they would rather give birth daily than have an attack daily just verifies for me that i was right. chs does seem to be the worst possible pain out there, no matter what part of the body the pain is comming from.
now if you dont mind, can all of you come over to my house and get this fact through my wifes stubborn head? i appreceate it, thanks. LOL!

Two children here.  First was born after 32 hours hard back labor and the damn OBGYN "forgot" to break the water till he crowned.  (over 175 stiches and bruises to my knees).  Second, induced labor. (I don't recommend this if at all avoidable).

I'd have a dozen more kids to be rid of the beast.  And that includes all the pukeing, back aches, etc for the nine months before it too.

hi again folks
i should probably start this on a new thread but it all kind of ties in together.... now that we have pretty much covered the child birth thing.... can ANYONE give me an example of pain worse than chs? im wondering exctally how much pain were actually dealing with and how strong we must be to go through this pain and not off ourselves (believe me, the thought has crossed my mind more than once). any pain, any part of the body, thats worse than chs. thats what im looking for. thanks again guys. ----nathan---chronic for 4 years running with only one break in a every other day cycle

the pain of CH is way worse than childbirth!  10x worse.  20x worse - Geez, I don't think it even compares.  With childbirth the pain slowly builds so you are able to breathe through each contraction and prepare for the next one.  With CH there is no building up it is just WHAM and I forget how to breathe, the pain is that intense.  All I know is that I would have to agree with the other ladies here.  I would go thru 1000 labors if it meant I would never had another CH!  So tell your wife to put that in her pipe and smoke it.

Two kids here, both natural. Childbirth is a diff. kind of pain and you get a great gift at the end of it.  I would have to agree with everyone here, I would rather go thru labor and the  birth  again anyday, if it meant I would never get hit again.

I have found one thing more painful than CH.  It is a very rare and last ditch effort to avoid a craniotomy but having a lumbar drain inserted into my spinal column and having the cerebral spinal fluid drained, 15cc every 4 hours for a week, had me asking God to let me die.  Take all the fluids from around your brain and spine away and no amount of morphine or anything else will help with that constant pain that was continuous for over a week.

My right felopian tube twisted 3x.  I was having severe constant abdominal pain.  I went to the er and was given a shot of demerol and sent home.  They said they thought it was a cycst and to followup with my dr in the morning if it still hurt.  Well the shot didn't do nothing and I called my dr first thing asap. in am.  By the time I saw my dr it was 9am.  I was on the floor collapsed, crying, and in severe pain.  My dr picked me up, carried me to the ER and addmitted me.  Ran tests and found out what was up.  He did emergency surgery and removed my right overy.  He said "How long has this pain been going on?"  I said 3 days.  He asked why I didn't come in sooner.  I said because the pain never got as bad as my ha until now.  He was floored.  He said most women would have been in in 12 hours or less.  He became the best dr in the world when it came to advocating for my ha.  Finally someone who could comprehend what I was talking about for pain and relate it.  I cried when I lost that dr.
