Letter To Mom - Update

I posted sometime back this poem i wrote for my mother. Entered it into poetry.com's yearly contest. They liked it.... It was first allowed to be in the hardbound yearly publication. There are 4-6 poems to a page and a couple hundered pages. They then told me I made the semi finals and gave me two full pages, one to say who I was and one for the poem. That was cool. They just sent me a letter and told me that I was one of 33 that made editors choice and that they were putting a 3 CD compilation of these 33 poems that would be read for the CD's. i would never get 3 CD's of poetry myself.... but mine is included in there. Hope this means that I will win some $$$ at some point. I guess if nothing else I can say I am published and have an editors choice award. Here is the poem if you want to read it. Gently a glistening tear . . . of a memory. There forever time stands still, lost in used-to-be’s. When a held hand meant safety and security. When tomorrow wasn’t yesterday, but seemed an eternity. When life was simple, easy to be a part of. When there was time to play in the grass with no more penalty than a dose of hayfever. When it was just you and me struggling to survive, me not knowing what it meant, but I know we got by. When everything in life was so real, so big, and so new, life was an adventure to be lived and explored and it never seemed to matter that it was only our backyard. Having the chance to dream to do it all, to be a fireman, a policeman, a doctor, a lawyer, just having the chance means the world. But now as I’m caught up in the used-to-be’s and as I settle into the life you hoped it would be, I hope I’m as good a man as you’ve been a mother to me. Love, Your Son

Beautiful...I cried as I read it. I'm a real sentimental sap who would be proud to have one of my sons write that to me.

That is a wonderful poem. I shared it with some friends, hope you dont mind. I also had a poem published many years ago, when I was a Senior in High School. I'll have to try and find it. I think some people here would greatly enjoy it. Thank you Ken, -Tia
