My sister is getting gastric bypass!!! She has been trying to get approval from the insurance company for months now and she got approved 2 weeks ago. She went to the surgeon today and she is going to be able to have it done laproscopic instead of open. THANK GOD! I was sooo worried about her having to have the surgery open. A lot more risk associated with the open surgery than the laproscopic. She is so scared, but she is very ready for this. She was going to try to do it last year but had a friend die after undergoing the procedure due to a staph infection - she had it open. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She has a lot of health problems associated with her weight - diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid problems, etc., etc. - and this will hopefully help with a lot of those problems. I love my sister so much and am extemely close with her - please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. I will keep you all posted.

Good luck to you both, I hope all goes well. Have you got a date yet for when she will have the op? One of the girls I work with had it done about a year ago (although I don't know by which method) and the differenc in her is just incredible. It will give her a whole new life!

all she knows at this point is that she will have the operation at the beginning of November. I am so excited and scared for her. I was always super skinny until I had my son. I developed Toxemia and was in the hospital for the last 3 months of my pregnancy. I gained 125 lbs while pregnant and I have told her that having been both skinny and heavy life is so much easier when you are thin. I am still hanging on to about 50 of those pregnancy lbs (almost 7 years later) but she has inspired me to get my butt in gear and finally take off these last 50 lbs!!

I had toxemia with my youngest.. had to have an emergency caesarean. It was surreal as the last thing I remebered was having lunch and feeling giddy then I woke up with a baby and a drip! Good luck with the losing weight, I'm trying to do that too after putting on 70 through steroids earlier this year, still have 50 to go so we're even stevens!
